Do something constructive for a change, or get a job and stop wasting my taxes.
If you want to find out about policing at football matches, come and see for yourself, walk over our bridge on derby day and you'll find out that half the problems are caused by the over-zealous, hyped-up coppers looking for trouble, we see it time and time again.

Done..However, I did feel that the questions were slightly loaded. It was a straight forward situation of one set of fans acting like twats with the other set behaving impeccably and the police stuck in the middle trying to maintain order.

Why do students never look out of the window in the morning?

It gives them something to do in the afternoon.

I gave up after page two.
    Very poor effort. <doh>

Howay lads, get off the kid's back. Rodders is only trying to better himself. What's wrong with a kid trying? - There are too many in this country who'd rather leech benefits and not try. Give the lad a break, eh?

Rodders, I'm neither talking up to you (Masters myself) nor down to you (well hell, I've been where you're at, and not so pompous as to forget it). O.k.? First things first - I haven't completed your questionaire because I have a piece of something nasty in one leg, going back many years, and it moves about, giving me a fair amount of discomfort. So I avoid precisely the situations you're asking about. My testimony would be invalid, right?

But I did take a look at it. I would offer the suggestion that you improve on the impartiality of your questions. That is vital if you're ever going to advance far. Academia is not an easy and comfortable place to live - in spite of popular opinion. Your findings will be rubbished in no time, if your questions aren't deemed unbiased. You must hone in on this, concentrate on it. I'd suggest you re-think this, and then try it again, mate. (A good foundation might be reading W. G. Collingwood, The Question of History [1946]. Try it).

One last thing - I hope you do well, and congratulate you on at least having the balls to give it a go. Good luck to you, mate.

I'm from Cleveland Rd., Sunderland in the 1940s. But your question is one of my favourites. You're a guy who likes wider topics than just SAFC - so try this fabulous sportsman, a big hero of mine, though sadly I was never old enough to see him. Try :

    http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=the babe john goodman&FORM=VIRE3#view=detail&mid=830E7395783291A60A8E830E7395783291A60A8E

and then the historically much more accurate :

Jesus, I wish I'd been in Pittsburg that day, don't you? <laugh> Wow, how good was that bugger?

Cleveland rd. Ffs ive lost my bearings here. Chester road way near hospital?

American sports. One thing i dont undetstand. World series. World champions etc. How when they are the only ones to play them.

Ive never got the rules of baseball. But therrs been some big stars and rich people because of it.

Why do the yanks not seem that interested in rugby? Sure they would be good at it.

Yeah, it turns left off Chester Rd. and then swerves right to run parallel with it right up to Ettrick Grove and turns left to Humbleton. About three-quarters of the way up, you can turn right along Ormond St. which connects with Kayle Rd., and runs down past the old Plaza cinema and led to Doxfords.

I don't understand the rules of baseball either - to me it's just rounders in another language. <laugh> But anyone who can't respect Ruth can't respect life in my view. The man gave something, and all we've got left to give him back is respect. I'll do that, and willingly.

Interesting that the OP has not stated what he is actually studying. Also he is a new member so either a wum or lazy student getting a survey completed without any graft.

Well I filled it in, only 10 minutes, but as I don't like Newcastle fans (sorry QWOP!) and I like the police even less, I doubt my opinions mean much!

I've been going to the local minor league baseball games (Myrtle beach pelicans 10-15 games a year), brilliant sport to kind of watch. From what i gather 1 bloke flings it and if the other twats it he runs, if not try again. No attention span needed at all , loads of food and drink and they just about baby sit for me for 4 hours, with all the activities for the kids. Champion.

American football is almost watchable, and i do try to go to a couple of local college games a year when the mrs gets free tickets. It's refreshing watching people try 100% for very little chance at monetary reward. I think Coastal Carolina has had maybe 2 players enter the NFL.

<laugh><laugh><laugh> Well I've been on this board almost a year now, and I must say I've never yet heard a more interesting and perceptive assessment of any sporting event than yours. Enjoy, mate. You clearly do. <laugh><laugh><laugh> "1 bloke flings it and if the other twats it he runs, if not try again." - stunning man f**king stunning. I love it. <laugh><laugh><laugh> Thank you for that one. It was brilliant.

Matter of opinion mate. I was outside of allied carpets one game. Your fans were no Angels. Swings and roundabouts mate.
    Hope you're well, btw. <ok>
