If you can quote anywhere where I've said Stones performance backs up being worth £40m then go ahead. I really dont understand where you got that from. I've been very consistent if ppl read what I've posted. For me, it's about the likelihood of an unknown and unproven striker carrying 20-30 goals in 4 competitions for one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's not the same as taking a punt on a mf or a cb or winger. He could be a remarkable signing and let's hope so but based on every bit of common sense it's unlikely he'll be able to reach the expectations required this season for United when signing a striker. It really is that simple and that's the bare bones of it.
You know what? You are in a better place than me. With your very low expectations of him, you'll be over the moon if he does reasonably well and you are likely to be satisfied. With mine, I am very likely to be disappointed
He played as a winger for the vast majority of the time. Has been played as a striker since March and scored 8 in 10 games.
Were some of the biggest clubs in football after him? Had another club had a £40m bid rejected earlier in the summer? Not really the same thing is it. Though he is highly rated and may well go on to do well. At another club obviously as he will never play a game for Chelsea. Youth always has a chance at United.
Spotted this today. Its actually 8 in 12 but it is still impressive. Can sort of see why he's compared with Henry tbh. Winger turner striker out of Ligue 1. If we end up with half that then we will have found a gem.
Not really considering he's deleted the rest of the sentence. Probably suit you though as you never read more than half a sentence
I didn't compare him. Perhaps you are having some difficulties with your reading? I said I can see why he is compared. Though those who have watched him say hes better than Henry was at 19(henry came into his own quite late).
If this statement is true, then we should all just shut up and let's watch things play out. I know for a fact though that the kid must have something for France to call him up to the senior team.
I dont understand how a United fan cant just be happy. Whether youve followed United for 50 or 5 years there's one constant in it all. Youth. Bringing our own through or snatching some of the best in the world and making them greats. Or they flop. But so what. We could do it like chelsea and madrid. Take no risks on potential. It works but their fans are miserable.
So what you were saying was "you can see why he is compared with Henry" based on "8 in 12". OK mate whatever
Maybe he is thinking more like French Young Played for Monaco Fast as **** Winger converted to striker There are some similarities there.
I only quoted what he said. Winger converted to striker and French was also added in there. How many do you think are like that right now in the French ligue?? Needs to be a bit more to it that that when comparing to Thierry Henry. I'd rather such embarrassing comparisons werent made. They're not needed. It smacks of some desperation in defending this transfer. Still waiting for Cheyrou to become the next Zidane
I will reserve my personal judgement for when I have seen him play. For now the views of those who have seen him are all I can go off. Ignoring the Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas types, the general feeling is hes one of the world's best prospects. The link with Henry is nothing strange. There are some similarities, on paper at least. Then again some have compared him to Bebe (bellends) and Anderson (based on the fee and zero knowledge). So.... You know...
