No problem mate, just trying to balance out your views here. It's easy to be dragged one way or the other, I'd be a lot more pissed off about these refugees if they were coming out of Pakistan by the way, who live under a full Sharia court, they're less likely to integrate under law that doesn't acknowledge their religious beliefs ahead of the law of the land. Integration is and always will be the key, our government have an issue with ethnic cleansing though, creating little cities within cities for ethnic communities. If we have any hope of progression as a nation we have to accept diversity and our government have to force these people to live under our rules, integrate, or **** off back to where they came from.
Maybe because we helped destabilise Libya. Remember the Arab spring? Well the refugee crisis is the Arab Winter coming our way. That's what happens if you meddle in other countries' business
Gadaffi knew what he was doing, attempting to trade oil in a new currency. That can cause a global economic crisis, he knew the Yanks would come and wreck Libya. He'd lost all control in that country anyway, he was going out with a bang. The point I was attempting to make is that there are bigger humanitarian crisis (what's the plural of crisis?) happening that are being ignored.
Yes there are many more crises but they don't make news until they affect us. That's why there's so much interest at the moment. Everyone keeps talking about Turkey and why people are leaving there. But the facts are that there are hundreds of thousands of refugees still there. We are not the only country affected
It is the biggest upheaval since WW2 but is out of control as the source cannot be identified as it was then. Protecting your families by spending every penny on getting them safe is maybe the last resort. Asking to go to Germany maybe out of hope that it is the promised land etc, the list could go on. The homeless of WW2 were spread around the world and welcomed in their plight but without the control this chaos is bound to go on. One thought though, put too many people of the same beliefs in one place and destabalise the population could lead to more conflict. This is what happened in post-war Palestine which was eventually taken over by Israel because of the population imbalance, along with other political things. This is possibly history repeating itself but without the benefit of knowing just who the wrong ones are.

Not exactly on topic but I just watched a program about refugees at Calais the tv programme had visited there a year ago and went back to see if conditions had improved they showed an Afgan bloke early to mid twenties from last year who wanted to get into the UK because his brother was already here and there was bombs/Taliban etc in his country. When they went back recently he was not in the camp and they traced him to London. He had found his brother and they asked him how he had got into the UK. He had used people trafficers and his family back home had paid them £1200 to get him in a lorry over to here. One of the first things they had done when he got over here was to consult a solicitor to find out what he was entitled to while his asylum request was being processed. I give up
Not surprised at that as it just about perfectly illustrates the scale of those others involved with getting to and remaining in whichever country. Those in the legal profession throughout Europe will be making mega bucks dealing with refugee applications, no shred of compassion or help to human kind, only a commodity.
The majority of immigration solicitors in this city are immigrants. I watched that programme also, he said he wanted to go to college and learn a trade, which is fine but he couldn't speak a word of English, just full of ****, he'll have a job in a car wash for the rest of his life cash in hand.

Exactly - that program I was on about also showed the problem from the road transport viewpoint. They were cutting the roofs/curtainsides to get into the trailers which gives the hauliers a repair bill. The lorries carrying foodstuffs were particularly badly hit - The owner was saying that when they get in the back of the lorries carrying fresh produce they are leaving all sorts of nasties i.e bottles of urine and other things (I assume he meant poo etc ). If one of these item are found then the whole load is classed as contaminated and scrapped - I think he said £20,000 a shot ffs

It's 8 years since I last crossed the channel in a 7 ton truck but I assume it's the same set up. Drive into port, up to ticket booth to get ticket, and be directed to a boarding lane to wait to be called forward when it's time to load the ferry. During this wait time, don't the drivers get out, check externally for break in damage/padlocks missing, and if it appears somethings happened then call security to check ? Are they still using the drive in sheds that check for heartbeat/CO2? It would slow things down but surely while things are as they are it's worth the delay to put every truck through the sheds instead of a random few
