For what its worth been talking to a rabid Hammers fan that I work with - he is utterly gutted to see Matt Jarvis go - even on loan. Genuinely believes that West Ham will not be the same team without him and wants him back!
Seriously? My West Ham-supporting colleague has said that although he's a decent player, he's not overly bothered about him going.
I think he's a very decent player, good addition to the squad. I think it would have been greeted a lot more positively if it hadn't be so late in the day, and particularly as it followed the shock at Johnson leaving.
Thought he was good at Wolves and was lively against us - not sure he's quite as effective now since his injuries but still will be a useful impact sub I reckon.
I assume Jarvis is ostensibly cover for Brady if he's injured or required at LB. I like him though, Good bit of pace, likes to attack his full back and can cross pretty well. On the Johnson business, we essentially moved on a CM (Where we are well stocked) and brought in a wide mid which we were very short in. Still disappointed to see Johnson go as much for his passion and commitment as anything else.
Funnily enough, my local butcher and his son are both of the hammer persuasion and I asked them this morning for their thoughts and was told he was two footed, decent crosser of a ball but won't score you many goals. I was left kind of underwhelmed really. In fact underwhelmed is probably my over-riding emotion from this window (which should never had encroached on the season by the way) and I am still pretty bothered and upset about the loss of Bradders. I just feel that the opposition have stolen a march on us and we had another last minute lame attempt kicked back for the Wolves lad, all a bit disappointing!
£10.25m to be precise. He won't replace BJ's goals but he has good pace, is two footed and can play on either wing, so not a bad addition.
I have friends who support Wolves and friends who support West Ham. He shone brightly at Wolves which earned an England call up and a big money move to West Ham where he never really fitted in or got going. OVERALL: Very pacey and when on form beats defenders for fun but he's a poor crosser of the ball.
