With you 100% in theory - the Cattermole I watched against Swansea was not the one I watched against Leicester or Villa! Catts or Rodwell for Seb in the OP and the rest is spot on - although I'm not sure Defoe can play that "on his own" role in the front three but the good thing about DA's tactics are that they start as a three and just keep on moving around! If AJ gets fit soon then Defoe may be an impact sub!!
I don`t think Catts should start. I wonder if, because of the upgrades, he`s trying too hard. Whatever the reason he needs to take a step back. Just my opinion but I think sending him out there then dragging him off early will be doing him more harm than good.
Would love to be at training this week to see his reaction, the little general will be watching catts like a hawk. I believe how catts reacts will determine wether he starts against spurs.
The thing is mate, if he does start and goes OTT he`ll be dragged off early again sending him even further back. Still think he needs to watch for a while.
It's a risk I reckon DA will take, if it happens mate then yes bench time for catts and deservedly so.
Here's mine.... Pants Jones Kaboul O'Shea PVA M'Vila Catts (if not doing the business bring Rodwell on) Watmore Defoe Borini Lens
See I don;t think that is Catts character! I think he'd fight to regain his place rather than throw a huff and take his ball home! He also realises when he's played rubbish
What's that formation though? 424 is suicide, 442 would get swamped in midfield, 433 has a square peg in a round hole
Wouldn't play 4 4 2.... Two central holding midfield players. Leave Defoe up the middle. Make Borini, Lens and Watmore all inter changeable....two wide players to track back as we know....Borini behind Defoe....looking for a lot more movement so Spurs defense continually are marking different players....Toivenon on after 60 mins.....once this lads is fit him and M'Vila central two....
Johnson is back in training - the incoming "better quality" we have (in Borini, Lens Toivonen) might mean he has to up his game! Can only be a good thing - it also might mean he has someone who is capable of thinking at the same level as him (as he has a very good football brain and can see a pass 2 or three steps ahead of Graham and Fletcher!) Looking forward to watching us try to beat everyone 6-5!!
Yep agree with this 100% ....And, this should, wake Johno up. He must now want to show our new talent what HE can do. This new squad excites me....I see more goals in our games now....which end, nobody knows....ha ha ha !
Great that AJ is not a guaranteed starter. He been ineffective starting games and genrally good as an impact suit. The bench should be a good way to ease him back in and encourage some Confidence Pants Jones-----Kaboul------O'Shea------PVA Rodwell-----------M'Vila Toivonen Lens--------Defoe-------Borini Front three interchangeable throughout of course Subs: Vito, Coates, Catts, Larsson, AJ, Watmore, Fletcher
