Investment can only go so far, these are basically different worlds. People in the Middle East seem to have a very different idea of how life should be lived, we think they're backwards, they in turn probably think we're backwards. The best possible solution is for everyone to live and let live and accept we have differences without trying to impose what we believe is right on each other.

Sadly it's little more than a dream.

I don't disagree. I wasn't implying we impose our way of life, we've seen the problems that creates. I was more trying to suggest we help the countries and cultures with them very much leading. we just make sure that the resources go to the right people.

Things can't stay as they are, too many are suffering.

I was born long before WW2 and the people in most big cities during the war suffered hardship to the extreme. There are lots of us oldies can't forget that, also whats happening in the UK now is difficult for them to accept.

All we can do is sit back and watch them opress each other whilst offering sanctuary to those who believe life should be different and look to flee. People will always suffer with their way of life, the only way to prevent that is to change how they live.

And seemingly, they don't want to, and why should they?

Why aren't these people fleeing to the the richer Arab countries? Saudi, Jordan & Kuwait are very affluent countries! So we need to ask the question why? It's because the Muslims have so many different groups that they must feel they're safer going west? The problem will not be solved by taking people in within Europe! It has to be solved within the Middle East! Muslims are fighting Muslims.

I'm desperately attempting to get my point across without the involvement of politics but surely the Middle East Envoy, whose name I won't mention due to fear of the thread being closed, was given the job of sorting this, although **** knows why, a bigger war monger I cannot imagine!

Why does everyone always miss Israel off this argument, is no one allowed to question why Israel doesn't offer any sanctuary or aid, even to non Muslim Syrians?

I didn't say if people hadn't studied Latin they were thick and ill informed. I said you were thick and ill-informed and explained why I didn't need to google the information about fascist as I had endured Latin at school. Obviously comprehension was something else you didn't study.

There are over 24000 schools in the UK, until recently less than 100 taught Latin.

It has become an option over the last decade in up to 600 schools over the last decade, but isn't compulsory on the curriculum, only in a small number of public schools.

    So **** off you bellend.

check out the history between the two countries - I've been to Israel ( I've also been to Jordan for what it's worth)and was told quite categorically that I wouldn't be allowed into Syria with an Israeli passport stamp - Syria has constantly attacked Israel with Hezbollah rockets and suicide bombers - Israel is in constant fear of attack from its neighbours - I was sat outside a roadside café in Tel Aviv and a guy started walking across the road with a long coat on - everybody got up and started to move away just in case he had a bomb belt - never underestimate what Israel has to tolerate in everyday life because of the hatred of all the arab countries that surround it who have vowed to obliterate it - when Iran had that terrible earthquake a few years ago it said it would accept help from anybody except Israel - you cant criticise Israel - they have their own security to consider - they wouldn't know who they were letting in - just like we don't really

Funniest thing is not sure what some are so scared of, pretty sure the last place these migrants will want to go to is Hull. So you can all sleep safely knowing some migrant isn't trying to pitch a tent in your back garden (innuendo intended)

Hull is actually the No.1 destination for Iraqi immigrants.

I do agree they shouldn't really be picky if this is is truly a life/death matter for them and just settle where they can but I also believe they should be distributed fairly according to the size of the country, otherwise it's very cowardly for us to ask them to just settle where they land, knowing full well we're plenty far away from the zone in question.

Ah yes, it's true that Kebab delight is rather popular.

This sounds rather like bullshit, unsurprisingly I've only found the sun and the mirror with a "let's make a vary vague survey destination map to stereotype communities even more"

Official census is outdated but London/Birmingham are quite easily ahead

There's absolutely no chance that the highest population of Iraqis in the UK is Hull.

Course not, many are opportunists and follow the herd but you're suggesting not helping those in need because we might, at the same time, help a few that didn't?
