Are you sure you are even the biggest club in Portsmouth? Shouldn't live in the past....if we did Accrington Stanley are a big club.
I have to say that I don't want it to come across that I disrespect Bournemouth. All promoted sides deserve respect...that was us a few years back. I would hope to beat them twice (because I support Saints) but I don't assume we will, especially at Dean Court.
Perhaps we need to start patting the head of Pompey fans as well as Cherry fans....could lose a hand though.
it's good of you to recognise that our recent dip into league 1 and your frolic with premier league is temporary.
It's a "special" class though PL, for "special" people.....we had one in our school that needed extra time by the cleaners to mop up the pools of drool off the floor. Form of course is the only thing that really matters, the rest is just history. I believe the Romans used to have something of an empire, back in the day.
Difference is we have a major chance of being back next year. The nearest you'll get to a trip to Europe is the Severn Bridge
You do realise I only unleash the bantz attack if someone else mentions Portsmouth first? I never start these things... Actually we went to Spain during pre-season. Ha!
Oh, PL you should warn people when you're going to come out with stuff like that. I nearly had an injury laughing so hard.! You're contesting for 4th, even if we just confine it to the coast, behind Us, Cherries and Brighton. Your rivals are Exeter and Plymouth. If we just call it the South, as you did, you're behind Bristol City and Swindon, with Yeovil contesting greatness with you as well. Oh dear, I can feel another guffaw coming on. My aching sides.
This is like saying the British Navy is the biggest and most powerful navy in the world. It could be said that it was once, but it definitely isn't now and will never ever be again. Rather sadly the British Navy frightens no one any more and the same can be said for poor old pompey.
Blimey. First time I've ever seen the words 'class' and 'Portsmouth' residing in such close company, without 'lack of' being somewhere present in the sentence.
Of course, PL could be at least 70 years old and may dimly recall Pompey consistently finishing above Saints. Any younger and he would have to agree that Pompey's recent "blip" (playing in the Premier League) was against the natural order of the last 55 years or so. On the other hand, he could be 15 and not remember Saints' perpetual South Coast dominance, pre-2005. Years in top flight since 1960 Saints - 39 Pompey - 8 MAJOR* trophies won since 1950 ....One FA Cup each! I am aware of Pompey's two championships just before that...my grandfather told me about them! Our brief foray into Europe didn't quite match our trip to the Cup Winner's Cup QF. Still, we got into Europe on 8 occasions...how many have Pompey managed? *No, I'm not including Johnson Paint Trophies or 2nd, 3rd,4th Div titles, which you only get as a potential reward if relegated from the top flight (something which Saints avoided most of that time)
