Meanwhile police in the West Midlands have to use cars without 'blues and twos' ( to save money !)

Health and Safety will soon prohibit Police from running after criminals - in case they fall ( and damage their uniform )

Civilians in 'marked' Police cars is for one reason only - to create an illusion of 'more' police on patrol than actually exists.

I'm hoping for some more 'beautiful' reaction - such as all the lovely words I got in the Migrants thread yesterday -

but - SERIOUSLY - it's our tax payers' money that's being wasted.

 

How are they being wasted if they are spending less?

The seven Police forces 'giving' civilian employees 'marked' police cars are definitely spending more than necessary. They could provide much cheaper cars that were ' less decorated' - or even a fuel allowance for using their own cars for 'civilian work.'

As for the West Midlands - officers are using cars that do have cheaper 'spec' - but THAT just enhances the farce of the opposite end of the scale - AND - why don't they go the 'whole hog' and use cars without any livery ? - and save a bit more money.

My real point is the use of marked police cars by civilians - to make us think that our streets are being patrolled.

Successive Governments ( whatever their Politics ), continue to waste OUR money. They don't give a toss what happens - so long as they can 'pay' enough of OUR money to enough voters to be re-elected.

Not 'personally' (technically speaking). In the OP I did high light the word 'OUR' before the word 'taxes' - to show that I was talking about the tax payer 'at large'

I should have clarified - OUR means ALL of us, and TAXES - means ANY form of taxation that goes into The Treasury - to be used (and abused)

I don't mind paying taxes per se - but I am furious when OUR taxes are being wasted on extravagances.
