Who's suggesting opening their home to them? If a few Syrian families moved in along the street it wouldn't bother me, assuming hypothetically there were places for them to stay. Plenty of English people I'd dislike moving in more than them. Certain parts of the country probably have had too much immigration but some aren't very densely populated and have the capacity. If they're fairly distributed around Europe then it won't be too much of a burden on a country with a £1.7tn GDP.
