Okay, I've focused solely on young Lewis Cook, and here is his involvement as it happened in the first half only as I really don't feel more has to be said ... all other action is not included, such as Cooper's excellent run and ball forward to Wood, etc. 2 .. Berardi down line to Byram who plays a short one touch pass inside to Cook on halfway line .. Cook swivels smartly away from Thorne, leaving him for dead and accelerates into the space he's created, driving forward and sucking in three Derby midfielders before slipping a sweet pass to Mowatt with the outside of his right boot ... Mowatt plays a one touch to the edge of the area where Byram has taken up a great position ... Byram's run has drawn two defenders, giving Wood room and Byram finds him with yet another one touch pass ... Wood shoots instinctively and the ball narrowly goes over with Carson beaten ... would have been goal of the season 4 .. Taylor steps in to win ball in Leeds half, zips a quick pass inside to Mowatt who in turn flicks it to Cook inside centre circle .. two strides and the quick thinking Cook chips a beautiful ball out to Dallas into tne space left by the overlapping right back whose pass Taylor intercepted, taking out the Derby midfield completely .. heavy touch by Dallas as he attempts to cut inside and pressurise the centre backs turns over possession .. so close to causing chaos in the Derby defence 6 .. Cook swivels for a dropping ball and causes Keogh to donate blood for the Derby cause 15 .. Cook wins ball in final third, drives past Thorne and goes at the left back before standing him up and curling in a dangerous cross for Dallas just outside the six yard box .. Keogh hurriedly clears for a corner .. Mowatt fails to get the ball past the near post and Derby clear easily 19 .. Cook flicks overhead pass to Wood who deftly touches ball to Mowatt .. a ten yard dash sees Mowatt fire a pass out to Dallas in a good position but Derby close the winger down after a heavy touch 22 .. Adeyemi fires a delicious forty yard pass out wide right to Cook who's found space yet again .. one touch by Cook to kill the ball before tapping a short pass into the box for the flying Berardi to strike and Derby scramble to block the Swiss right back's fierce drive .. Leeds are playing some awesome stuff 23 .. Berardi wins the ball deep in Leeds territory and zips a pass to Mowatt who finds Cook's twinkle toes .. an excellent touch allows Cook to step inside two Derby midfielders and his neat pass gives Adeyemi room to move into, but his quick ball out to Dallas goes astray, ending the chance of a dangerous counter attack with Derby stretched to the limit .. heavy metal at it's most fluent 28 .. Bamba breaks up an attack on the edge of the Leeds box, and plays a short ball to Cook who turns and plays a good pass to Wood inside the centre circle in the Leeds half, splitting the Derby midfield and taking them out of the play .. the big striker races upfield and makes his way up to the Derby box before being crowded out by three defenders .. Derby looking desperate 33 .. Cook wins the ball off Martin outside the Leeds box resulting in Byram winning a free kick that frustrates the Derby crowd .. boohoo 34 .. Adeyemi finds Cook who turns smartly and beats a man before finding the advancing Bamba .. his ball to Byram is cut out, but Cook has filled the space left by Bamba and Berardi, and he beats Martin to the ball and clears to touch, allowing Leeds to shuffle back and reorganise 36 .. Cook latches onto an excellent header by Berardi and drives across the halfway line, outpacing the Derby midfield .. he glides infield, straight into the penalty area and wins a corner as he tries to link up with Wood .. Derby centre backs are taking strain, and going by pre-match expectations, you are forgiven for thinking the teams swapped shirts before the game because Leeds are bossing things so far 37 .. Mowatt's ball into the box from wide right tries to find Wood but lands on a defender's head ... Cook, running off the big striker into a dangerous position finds the loose ball dropping in front of him, and he hits a volley that sails into the crowd and sends a pasty flying .. boohoo indeed 39 .. Cook tries a chip to Mowatt that will put the number 10 into space behind the Derby midfield but he over hits his pass .. sub him Uwe!! 41 .. Cook and Mowatt work hard deep in the Derby half, forcing the ball back to Carson who kicks long under pressure from Wood .. Bamba picks up the clearance and passes to Cooper who goes past Russell before finding Taylor .. the left back plays the ball into Mowatt who spins it wide to Dallas .. the winger motors down the line and wins a corner .. Dallas plays a quick short corner to Mowatt who gives it back to Dallas, and his cross is brilliantly headed past Carson a la Shearer ... 1-0 Leeds, and deservedly so .. Derby look stunned, but the Leeds youngsters have shut Derby down in midfield, working tirelessly and forcing the Rams to resort to long balls 45 .. Mowatt plays a free kick infield to Berardi while everyone waits on the edge of the Derby box for a long cross .. Berardi finds Cook out wide who plays a pass down the line to the loitering Mowatt .. two Derby midfielders move towards the Leeds number 10, and after tapping the ball a couple of times Mowatt plays a delightful ball between them to Cook who has overlapped down the right .. the Leeds Messi accelerates towards the box, drawing a defender as panic sets in amongst the Rams before firing a dangerous ball low across the face of goal, and only Carson's bravery at the feet of Wood sees Keogh hack the ball away in desperation .. Leeds dominating now and searching for a second 47 .. Cook wins a header in midfield and finds Mowatt who flicks the ball over his head to Wood .. the big striker controls well before finding Dallas who passes out wide to Taylor on the overlap .. Taylor holds the ball up, sees Cook flying into the inside left channel and nutmegs the Derby right back, releasing the Leeds Messi into the box, and Cook wins another corner as his cross is closed down by two defenders .. the corner is cleared but Cook wins the ball back in midfield and tries a chip over the Derby defence for Adeyemi to break the offside trap, but his over hit pass goes through to Carson .. sell him Uwe!! Half-time arrives to the relief of Paul Clement, and on this showing it seems Leeds can expect a bid of £50m for Cook from Barcelona .. come on Cellino, keep our kids!!! So there it is, so much for Cook not having an impact on the game .. he ran Derby's midfield ragged, constantly on the move, closing down and hustling, looking for space and quick passes, and easily head and shoulders above any other player on the pitch ... honestly, if this is a poor performance from Cook then I can't wait to see him on form Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
An excellent precise of cooks first half. A couple of points. 1. You have left the job half done, and that shows a lack f effort on your part. 2. Whoever cast the line that produced this wants their bait, hook, line, rod and both arms back.
Lewis Cook = Paul Scholes Best thing Leeds academy has turned out in least a decade, just hope we can keep him.
Always thought that myself - right from the first time I saw him play (the dirty barsteward tackles helped form my opinion )
Chippy, it was 1am when I posted this, so really not up for doing second half as well ... as for fishing, the person wasn't wumming, just being a stubborn idiot for slating Cook and then trying to justify it ... Clivetime anyone? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I have to upgrade that statement WJ, Cook is going to be better than Scholes, he can tackle, Paul Scholes could'nt, well he could but they were all missed timed
Btw, Doha, meant to ask you - is there much to do if you do a stopover in Doha? If so, how long should I stay, and what sort of stuff is there to do? Should probably PM you, but who knows who might find this useful?
Lots of sun lol, beaches are nice and clean, plenty of bars in the hotels, but as you being a fellow LUFC fan would put you up in our place Where you going to ?? either Aussie or the land of a thousand smiles.
Chirpy, are you in UK?? if so this forum must be the highlight of your day, as i have calculated you wrote your posting on hear prior to 7am uk time Either that or your up to do your paper round
Up and start working by 7.00am -7.45am most days. Don't tend to be around too much in "working hours". Usually don't post again till 5.00pm ( if that's alright with you). Do have an afternoon with no appointments today so might be round later.
Thanks, Doha. Coming back from a cruise that terminates in Singapore. Accidentlly discovered that it's nearly half the price to have a stopover in Doha than pick up the next leg asap, as you normally would. Can't understand what the incentive is for the airline. Can only suspect they get a bung from the government tourist agency for getting people to visit the city. Delighted for the 'stay' offer, but I'll kindly decline, if you don't mind. It's a wife thing. How can she be boss in someone else's house? Much obliged, though. Appreciate it. And you do realise that all these tight Yorkie gits on here will be looking for cheap flights to Doha & expecting you to accommodate them now! So, in summary, there's bugger all to do apart from sunbathe & bevvy. Sounds like Spain!
What WJ is trying not to say is there is no wife. he is civil partnershipped to 60! Careful Neil they whip you for that sort of thing out there.
Too late to try to pull that smokescreen, Glory. Everyone on here can't help but see that special chemistry that you & 60 have!
There ain't room for three of us in the bed, in fact it's a squeeze when it's just you. Three is a crowd and I don't want to be responsible for your break up.
