I'm a very happy chap today, great news. I expect Ramsey is happier though, as he'll get more time from the mob (me included) Who's looking forward to the new year window?
Let's get these stupid international matches played and get on with the real football. Watch out Forest the Lumberjack Rangers are coming!
It's great that both Austin and Phillips are staying, would have been very hard to replace them in this league. Also very well done to the board for sticking to their guns and not folding under pressure and finally good on both of them for not kicking up a fuss, handing in transfer requests and not slagging off their employers on a global network. However, Austin tweeting that he's staying an hour and a half before the deadline closes does not make him a legend in my book. He had no choice but to stay at that point, if he'd tweeted that last month, last week or even on Monday I'd say fair enough, top bloke. However, don't be naive to think he wouldn't have gone given the right circumstances, he would have gone to Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham (before Golds comments), Chelsea, Southampton, Swansea and probably Villa and WBA if they'd come up with the money, I'm bloody glad they didn't though.
We need to get Austin to sign a new deal as quickly as possible. Otherwise he will be worth about 7 mill in January and sweet FA at the end of the season.
I'm so surprised he didn't go. When you look at the other players that teams in the PL will be relying on to score. For example how many goals is Borini going to score for Sunderland? I know who I'd rather have.
I am so with you on this Sutfol.....I'm not Charlie's biggest fan.....but he is a loyal, hard workIng player..you will get 100% from him....and he will get goals in the box Borini judging by his antics last January...doesn't give a flying fig....and not someone I would want in a relegation battle. I really do not get why no one came for him other than Leicester and Palace...and why neither offered 15 million. But Spurs and Man It's throw away more than that on relative unknowns
They should do what villa did with Delph. A good contract that rewards him now within sensible limits, increases his value to us due to the term and gives us longevity as an R but has a sensible release clause to protect him and allow a move should the right club come in. Everyone is a winner.
However he has not acted like Berihno or De Gera or others that have pushed for a move. Charlie has always stated that he is happy at QPR and if we can give him Prem football then both sides are happy. Also regarding legend and term used. It was not specifically for him staying but for what he has done for the club. The staying is a bonus.
Absolutely! Hopefully, we are in the top two at Xmas and he stays to play PL football with us. I wouldn't call him a legend (yet), but he has indisputably behaved impeccably since we were relegated.
Yes and exactly what was expected! But because they had completed a new contract that suited all parties they got a decent fee rather than city just paying a nominal amount because his contract was about to end.
Agree but also hope he's as happy as people say and he appears. If so a potential championship winning medal and returning to the premier with us may be more appealing than joining a relegation threatened prem team. If we're in with a shout in January then I don't think he'll leave. The top teams wouldn't want him as he doesn't fit. The mid table will probably be happy and not invest and the strugglers that may be desperate wouldn't suit Charlie being at risk of another relegation.
Maybe the club should offer him an additional promotion bonus if they try to extend his contract too, thus keeping the clubs who are in the relegation dogfight away untill the summer at least
