This is being shown live on BBC3 at 19:30 this evening (kick-off 19:45)

    Japan v United States

I haven't been following it so far, but think I might take a look. Has anyone here watched any of the games so far, and would you recommend it?

It's been a decent tournament and USA women's team have surprised a lot of people by reaching the final.

I may watch it and if I do I'll be supporting Japan probably.

Well clearly you can say this from your extensive experience of watching it.... Women's football is decent and I've seen plenty of men's games which are worse than many of the games I've seen in this world cup.

This. I only started watching women's football when this tournament started and i was surprised because i thought it would be boring and dull but that was not the case.

Seeing as you support Pompey I'm not surprised you enjoy woman's football.

Well even domestic women's football can be good. For example the Everton - Arsenal FA Cup game and Chelsea v Arsenal in the WSL opener.

What you've got to take into account though is that until very recently (in this country at least), every female player was a part-time player. As a result, female players received a lot less training and so it's not hugely suprising that some female players may not have yet developed the same degree of technical ability as men as they simply haven't had the opportunity to have as much training. With the introduction of the WSL and players getting more training time, then standards are going to rise but this isn't going to be instant.

    Thank you.

I'll watch it because it's football and we haven't had much football this summer.

    No chance i'm watching this!

I remember watching a woman's FA Cup game a couple of years back and a girl took a throw-in which never actualy entered the field of play!

She threw it to the side and slightly backwards.

The bemusement of me and my housemate was incredible!

So bad we didn't actualy laugh.

    Never bothered since.

I'm sure if you went on to youtube and typed "football bloopers" you'd see plenty of male footballers inc. professionals doing similar if not worse.
