This move borders on lunacy by the club, Dyer is a good hard working squad player who we can rely on to do a shift when called upon. He didn't ask for the move but reluctantly agreed to it, after speaking to the club. It may be true that he's not the player he once was but will be missed. Restricts our options for cover through injuries and just as importantly cup matches. No sense whatsoever in this move just weakens the strength of the squad.

I don't believe the club would be forcing him to go, more likely Leicester has enquired on his availability and the club has put it to dyer on whether he wishes to listen to what is on offer. He's probably been told his first team chances will be limited with us.

This will come back and bite us, there is no doubt about that, he was being linked not so long ago with an England spot, he is still one of the best wingers in the country, and just watch him prove it at Leicester. Not happy with this, Monk has made a big mistake here, leaving us with Routledge as cover, who in my opinion is no longer a winger, big shame, lets hope we can keep Ayew and Monty fit?.................<ok>

Dyer is not as good as he use to be and we have had the best he has got. If he was still as good then he would be first choice but he is not and is well down the pecking order. He needs regular football to try and regain his form and Leicester have come to the rescue with a loan move........It works for everyone with Leicester get a good winger that needs to play regular and we and Dyer get to play top flight football ...Happy days all around....

Speculation no.1 - we will play all season with the diamond, therefore need fewer wingers.

Speculation no.2 - with Michu seemingly to remain on the books for another year we have to reduce the wage bill.

I'm sorry to say but he didn't exactly shine against York a Division 2 club, he needs game time if he's ever going too shine again and not at U21 level which would be all he could be offered .He will be missed without doubt but for what ever reason for his demise it's highlighted his deficiencies to an extent that his game time this season would be severely limited, bearing in mind he didn't play lot last season either .

I'm not sure he's even going to start for Leicester.

He definitely won't start straight away that's for sure. Mahrez and Albrighton have been superb since the last few games of last season, continuing this season too.
That said, I think this is a great addition by Ranieri, we have some incredible pace now in our side and Dyer will compliment that when given a chance.
    Good business for everyone

It might come back to bite us but I'd be surprised if Monk hasn't thought of that wouldn't you? If we do have problems then any criticism levelled at Monk would be justified. I'd have preferred it if Barrow was back here for sure.

As for Dyer being 'one of the best wingers in the country', not on current form he's not. Nowhere near in fact. Apart from the first month of last season he's been appalling in recent times. One of the main attributes of a winger is to get past his man. Can anyone think of a time when Dyer last did that? If he does it for Leicester I'd have to question why he could do it for them but not us, though I seriously doubt he'll start for them either.

Routledge can beat a man and score occasionally. Dyer, on current form at least, does neither. Harsh but true. I don't think he's been forced out, not for one second. If he wanted to be number one he should have played better. Simple.

I've met Nathan and he's a lovely guy who was instrumental in getting us promoted, but it's tough at the top.

Good move for Dyer who must have had talks with Monk expressing his desire to play football, showing Michu up a treat who apparently turned Celtic down before the deadline.

Dyer going to Leicester is a good move for all parties. Dyer gets to play top level football, Dyer gets to play for a more than decent club, hopefully, and of course Leicester get their man, though only on loan.

We've seen how jaded Dyer's been recently and this move should spark him back to the Dyer we all remember. Remember being the operative word as he's not been that player for a long time.

All of these are ahead of Dyer imo: Montero, Ayew, Routledge (probably), Tabanou, Emnes. Both Barrow and Gorre can return on demand and both, imo, are ahead of Dyer in the pecking order now, or in Monks plans going forward I imagine.

This move shows Dyers' desire to play is intact and that he has the character to decamp and relocate to do so, which is not easy.

A sneaky bonus for us is Dyer gets the chance he wouldn't have with us, to have a go at every other club and do as much damage as he can. Go get em Dyer.

Thats a bit unfair on Dyer he has consistently outscored Routledge every season since both have been at the club including this season. I would have preferred to keep him as cover than Routledge. I agree he is not as good as he was since his injury and its a good move for him IF he gets more PL game time for Leicester so good luck to the boy. The only benefit the club has is reducing the wage bill.

I did say "not on current form" and have never suggested Dyer is a poor player. But he's been completely ineffective for quite a while - everyone knows that, and if we are to maintain our level of success we can't carry anyone. Period. Stumpy is dead right when he points out players who are ahead of him in the pecking order and rightly so. I think Routledge is happy to fight for his place and Dyer's asked for the loan because he's been told his opportunities are limited. Good luck to him but I doubt he'll get more opportunities with Leicester.

I'm uneasy about the Routledge comparisons but it seems to me Routledge is capable of causing problems for the opposition and create chances whereas Dyer hasn't done that for some time.

Exactly he has always in my books been the more effective and better Winger, and he scored 4 or 5 goals in the first month of last season, then Monk benched him, which at the time I thought was crazy, and I was told later down the road that Dyer had knee trouble, not sure that was garbage now, and it seems to me Dyer is out to prove Monk wrong, just watch this space, because he can easily do that, he has it all in his locker, and I'm starting to think that Dyer was demotivated last season by Monk after having such a blistering start, there's nothing like politics around squad and manager to kill a players ambition and game.................<ok>

Just to clarify I wasnt intimating that you suggested he was a poor player. On current form though he has scored more than Routledge and if you are uneasy about the Routledge comparisons you shouldn't really make them ( no offence ). In my opinion neither player compares to the new arrivals however both have value to add to the squad especially in the cups where they are probably going to get most of their opportunities barring injuries. But like you said if Dyer would rather try his hand at more PL options with Leicester rather than stay and fight for his place then good luck to him. I too dont think he will get more chances as their wingers are doing just great at the moment so he may well be in the same position there. I feel it is a shame that we probably wont be seeing him in a swans shirt again but hey ho life goes on I suppose>
On the positive side it is a mark on how quick we are moving forward with the quality of players we attract that at only 27 he now appears surplus to requirements.
On a separate note I was under the impression he had an operation prior to the end of last season is that not the case Phil?

I was informed that he needed some minor keyhole surgery on both knees, not sure if he has had that done, very little info is coming out of the Liberty these days, but clearly Dyer feels the need to prove a point, and I hope he does, he must be fit to have made the move, I really like the lad, going to be interesting.......................<cheers>

Agree with a lot of this.... and for the record I was making the Routledge comparison because others did earlier in the thread.

Routledge had a cracking season a few seasons back, but last season he was average at best, I thought with Monty out he'd nail the position last game, but again he didn't want it, clearly Dyer feels he is the better Winger, and I tend to agree, it will be interesting to see how Dyer gets on at Leicester....<ok>

Routs is a better and more reliable than dyer, Dyer has been awful and deserved to be dropped by monk. He needs to go out on loan as he was never going to win his place back the way things are.....Routs has been good this season and has more about him than dyer imo...you have to go on form and dyer has not been at all good for a long time.....this loan stint will do him good but i have a feeling we wont see him in a swans shirt again........
