Every team needs a player like Catts. He is a born winner.

Meyler is way off the pace yet for fitness and may not even come back as strong and Colback only has a handful games to his name at this level. Catts has 4 or 5 full seasons.

I'd say unless the player wants to go, it would be a disaster to let Catts go, even for £10m.

Please do not underestimate catts, he is a very good young player, who was developing his game(less rash in the tackle)before he got injured. He was a key part of our good defencive record before christmas last year! When fit he will be one of the first names on the team sheet of most clubs outside the top five. However his fitness may be a long term problem. We need to develop a team where the 80% of the players when fit are automatic choices for the first eleven ,they play week in week out to develop a good level of togetherness and consistancy. To sum up:if fit he's to valuable to safc to sell, if fitness is an issue! he's not valuable enough to safc to keep!

No chance Id sell him. Meyler is coming back from a 2nd serious knee injury and we have no idea if he will be the same player and much as I like colbeck, he has only played half a dozen PL games.

When times are tough you need a Cattermole in the side and I think we would need to spend big to replace him.

As much as I love his crunching tackles and general combatant attitude I'd take £10million. Colback was quality when he was in the side last year and Meyler also looks good. If Catts properly disciplines himself and stays injury-free then he could be looking at the England squad IMO! But unfortunately we've been saying that for a while and he hasn't been able to do so.

    Liverpool fan in peace.

Not a chance. We have got a load of midfielders and we are struggling to work out where to put them so I really can't see this one happening. It's just paper talk. We are buying young English players, Cattermole is young and English and the papers just think that we are interested.

Anyway, good luck for next season. You've brought some decent players and I think you'll do well. (Just not against us though!)

Well, "Cattermole has the captain's armband" today. The original story uses a row about him losing the captaincy as a reason for him leaving. Maybe that rumour, and the one about going to Liverpool, should be consigned to the pile called "What a Load of ****"?

Cattermole doesn't have many fans left like. I rate the lad really highly. I think he's a much better footballer than people give him credit for. If he gets fully fit, i think we'll see exactly what he'sall about. For me, Catts is a starter in midfield every time (if he's fit). The only reason i'd consider letting him go is fitness.

I'm a massive fan Keane. Always like the lads attitude and will to win and I agree totally, he is a much better footballer than given credit for.

I'd be gutted if he was let go personally and if fit, 100% agree he is in the team.

Colback played well when the team were terrible and Catts was injured. Cattermole I rate very highly. I like meyler and Colback but not as highly as Cattermole.

Both Catts & Meyler have bad injury records. When both fit Meyler is the better player in my opinion.

Whilst I cannot question his commitment, Lee can be a liability at times. Although to be fair, last season a good lot of the yellows he received were unjustified.

Regarding Meyler. Whilst I have watched him with interest and believe he's a good player, he's still only played half an hour since recovering from a serious knee injury. To say he's better than Cattermole is ludicrous as you cannot judge how well his recovery from injury is until he's been playing a bit.

I think Cattermole us massively under-rated by a lot of our fans and is a much better player than given credit for.

Hope he stays and proves the doubters wrong

hope catts stays, good player on his day, and always has time to come over to the fans and sign programmes when he gets off the bus at away games.

don't think there's anything to this rumour though like.

This. He has to learn to keep to his feet more, but he still has the game to be a top ball-winner in midfield. We need his heart in the middle IMO.

Get £10 million for Catts and bring in Huth/Hutton and Defoe.

If it is true i would only sell him if we got a decent replacement for him.

IMO Sell Catts for 10m buy Parker for 6m.

Parker would be great to help the young lads like Meyler & Colback

What about a swap for aquilani?! Personally rate Vaughan much better than Catts, totally agree about Colback and Meyler, add in Gardner starting each week, we're looking at 10million for a squad player.

Ok agreed that if Catts sorts it out then he can be great, but how long have we said that for?! (And wigan and boro fans too may I add)
