Pleased we've got Jarvis as he genuinely adds something with his crossing. We needed a winger and we got one. Shame we didn't get that CB, especially with Turner gone.
"Brad, just to let you, we've had those perennial under achievers Derby asking about you. We've told them to **** off, we are not in the habit of selling key members of our first team squad, and certainly not to lower league teams. This is going to be an exciting season for us, and you're going to be really important in our success. Don't forget that England squad you got in a couple of years back - let's see if we can get you there again." "Cheers for being so honest with me boss, I'm glad you told those ****s to **** off. I ****ing love it here!"
Jarvis is good. Just never worked out with us for some reason but I think a fresh start will revitalize him. He's quick and puts in lots of crosses which are often frustratingly floaty but are usually well aimed.
Vadis only out on an emergency 1 month loan, DH, and Andreu only until January - certainly Andreu makes a lot of sense, and Vadis is no disaster imo
We did actually receive the £120 mil didn't we? I understand the vast majority goes on wages, staff etc, but why have we spent so little? Very short sighted!! I was there at Wembley walking back from the ground thinking...YES....some of that money is going to bring in some class new players to strengthen the quality squad we already have. Can't tell you how disappointed I am. Reminds me of the Chase days gone by! I thought AN had some balls, but the more I see of him, I'm starting to think he pulls a growling face every now and then......and that's about it. Hope he's not the man who inherited a very good squad and clinched us promotion, just to become McNallys 'Yes man'.
Our board and Alex Neil had f**ked us fans over. They did all the talk about money to spend to improve...My god that's laughable! We have massively weakened our squad! I lost a little respect for AN when he kept bringing on Grabban....When he's been Sh*t....And if we need a goal Hooper should have come on, but no, Grabban was AN's guy...AWOL. That was the first major cock up he made. He got totally screwed by Grabban. Then so soon after that, and after him saying "I give the ok on all deals" and we had this deadline day?! I love Alex Neil, But my god his on a thin line right now for me, as well as DM.I really cant see what they are doing anymore. I have the same feeling as when DM stuck by Hughton. If we stay up, it's luck...and we did it for pennies!
I think Vadis out on a short term loan is an excellent idea. Now that he is finally fit, a run of first team games will help to get him up to speed. Hopefully he will come back to us a fully match fit player ready to light up the prem!
Just didn't work out for Jarvis at West Ham, he kept his head up and mouth shut so good luck to him, hope he returns to the form that saw us shell out a club record fee for him, just not against us.
Not read the thread for a few pages but if its anything like Twitter on here tonight it'll be carnage! Quick question, does anyone think our starting eleven is weaker than it was on Sunday morning, cos I certainly think it's got stronger with the addition of Mbokani. Jarvis is decent enough, very direct. Not sure we needed him that much but not going to complain about adding a decent player to the ranks. Johnson was a bit of a weird one when I first heard about it - didn't see it coming at all - but the more you think about it the more it makes sense. The general consensus from nearly all Norwich fans has always been that he's too good for the Championship but not good enough for the top flight. Now nobody is going to argue he didn't have a stunning season last time out, but he's never going to repeat that kind of form is he! He's probably dropped down in the pecking order to 2nd, maybe even third choice. If he's asked AN if he can expect to start many games I think we all know Alex is honest enough to tell him the truth. I suspect that's why he has left. And bloody hell, that is a lot of money for effectively a fringe player. He's never worth that fee! Only downside to today is that we didn't sign a centre back - personally that would have been my second priority after a centre forward in this window. But hey ho. Oh, and Grabban is still here. I bet he's delighted!
The over confidence the management have in the defence worries me. We're conceding an average of two goals per game that is simply not good enough.
Is the gossip true!? Jarvis on Loan!?............F**k sake...We need a striker and a CB.....so we get a average winger on loan.....well done guys.
........ and Nathan Redmond has just tweeted one word 'madness' ...now what does that tell you about squad morale ?
Simply put, no we didn't. The £120m is our guaranteed income as a result of promotion - meaning the money from this season in the Prem plus 4 years of parachute payments. We're £120m better off than if we'd stayed in the championship. So we don't have anywhere near that figure to throw around, but a net spend of £4m or so is still pathetic..
I hope so. I think it's legitimate to be concerned whether Mbokani is an upgrade on Jerome, that's very risky. Have to disagree on Johnson, I thought he looked excellent as an impact player role even this season so far (and unlucky not to score a couple already), which I truly do not count as "fringe". But I accept the opposite view on whether he can cut it in the PL. Derby should go up, so it's an excellent acquisition from that POV because if he's as integral in their promotion as he was in ours he will way more than okay back the £6m which IMO is not a good deal for us in this market, but anyway... CB - I just don't see one who would represent an upgrade being available for a reasonable fee and want to come here. Hope Grabban is forced to train with the u18s until he apologises unconditionally.
Cheers for that rbf. A month does make sense, we haven't any injuries right now we might need him to cover, so he may as well get match fit. I'm only worried about Andreu going due to the numbers situation, but Vadis mitigates that. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence as to how highly the club rate either player though, especially as they cost us £4-5m together.
I have nothing against Jarvis, who is a decent winger, but at the end of the day we've replaced our PotS and one of our most committed players with a player on loan with a limited commitment to our club. No fault to Jarvis for that, but it's not like Mbokani's loan with an option for a permanent. We've gained one loan player and lost 3 others. I can't see how that can in any way be construed as a success.
