Erm.... is it just me or could people be misinterpreting his tweet? He didn't say he'll 'never play for' Jeremy Peace or West Brom again, he said he'll 'never play' Jeremy Peace. Two different meanings, no?
What would that mean, though? He appears to have missed out a word somewhere and 'for' seems like the most likely candidate, to me. He might mean that he's not going to play Peace at FIFA on his Playstation, but it seems unlikely.
It's been a really poor window, an utter shambles ,probably the worst since the saha and nelson one. On a positive note, the signing of son who I think could become a very good player for us and Ali who has great potential and seemingly a good head on his shoulders.
Lennon to Everton. Thanks Aaron you have done your best for Spurs and made a difference in many games.
I mentioned that earlier. Although you would have thought a correction would have been posted by now seeing the publicity it got if it was misinterpreted
I get the impression, with the whole Berahino affair, that the lad was quietly promised, behind the scenes, that a deal would be done and he'd be on his way to Spurs. The poor lad (or his ****-witted agent) obviously didn't factor into the equation that the two meanest chairmen in football history were more intent on scoring points off each other than in doing a deal that made commercial sense.
Play as is in, take the piss with, trick, fool, cross, underestimate. Am I the only one who is aware of this meaning? Surely not..... • (play someone for) treat someone as being of (a specified type): don't imagine you can play me for a fool.
Do you think that works with the first half of the tweet, though? It suggests that he's been mistreated.
On the bright side, we still have Kane, Lloris and Eriksen. I do wonder if any attempt will be made regarding Ade, though I’m thinking the answer is no. Dembélé has played striker. And we could try Dier there. He’s been good everywhere else. Of course, he doesn’t have any backup, either, but I’m sure Kane wouldn’t mind taking a busman’s holiday and filling in. Gallows humor aside, at least it means our academy players should have plenty to do, as will Alli and Clinton. I suppose the defence for not getting another striker is that there’s little point getting someone in who’s not good enough in the long run in a season in which we aren’t going to get top four. But if that is the defence, it should still mean we rest Kane, which is my main concern.
I think it's more likely to be "I will not play, Jeremy Peace". Footballers, punctuation, over head, etc
I'm glad you see the bright side. Kane is now a target. Luckily we've played Stoke already, so there will be no Charlie Adam tackles, but I can imagine certain players will go in for him that little bit harder now. Watch.
You mean he was writing a personal message to Jeremy Peace? Or signing the tweet, Jeremy Peace? Like a quote? Both seem slightly odd to me.
I’m not happy about it. But less unhappy than I would be losing Erikson to Juve, let alone losing anyone to Man U.
