The wholesale dismantling of the squad is quite understandable. Basically after United came 7th with no european football and beaten on a regualr basis by ordinary sides at OT, something needed to be done. New manager, new start and new blood.
The dismantling of the squad was necessary but getting rid of a local kid like Welbeck in favour of someone like Falcao showed a lack of understanding of the club. Sure we all expected Falcao to be great and he turned out to be cack but we only had him on loan for a season. Welbeck could have been loaned out for a season.

I was shocked by the sale, especially to Arsenal of all teams. A loan would have made more sense. My point is that we need to have identified and bought replacements before we sell or loan out.
