Apparently it's better to conduct transfer business on deadline day because selling clubs have less time to manipulate an auction.
That might be so, but I see no evidence that the buying club has any advantage, if anything prices seem to harden or even increase because clubs don't want to lose assets without having enough time to replace them.
It's like the last bird on the dance floor syndrome. Suddenly average French second division players start looking good and clubs pay over the odds just to get someone through the door to appease the fans.

 

The worst thing is that in the midst of FFP rules, Premiership clubs are set to break all records for transfer fees this year....clubs which are making losses are still spending hundreds of millions
