Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to stay at St Mary's with any possibility of him joining Tottenham now gone, according to Sky sources. They just try to wind us up.
And the craziest thing is that the ink hadn't even dried on his latest loan contract to W Ham when Victor Moses signed a new 4 year deal with Chelsea! There are no words to describe how farcical the situation is. I've said for years that there are dozens of laws and regulations governing fair trade and competition in basically every other commercial industry...why should football be any different? Oh wait, I know why...
We have Moses and Jenkinson, so we can't take him (too many loans). I'd have taken him, then returned him the moment he became malignant, but I suspect we ****ed you around on purpose, there's no love lost between our clubs at a board level (or any level really) surprised Villa haven't come in for him, he did well for Sherwood helping him save your season after AVB
It's more Adebayor not wanting to leave London apparently. Also, his wages are proving to be a massive obstacle - he's supposedly still getting 40k a week from City on top of the 100k he gets from us!!! The man is like a rash that no cream will remove.
At this rate, the only way we'll get shot of Adebayor before June 30th is if there's a way for a footballer to telecommute - but only actually show up for games when Villa have an away game in London.
Swap deal between Ade and Austin-both loans- in which we continue to pay Ade's wage and QPR pay Austin's.
That would be a good deal for us in the circumstances but we'd need an option to buy in case Austin turns out the be better than I think. Not sure what's in it for QPR though.....
Is it me or is there a strong whiff of desperation floating around this transfer window? Not just Spurs but across the leagues. These last minute deals during the season just make for total chaos and lead to over-inflated prices created through brinksmanship and greed. The De Gea saga is an embarrassment for both United and Real; not that my heart bleeds. Our striker situation is a farce when you consider the time we've had to get deals done yet all that seems to have happened is Levy's pissed off practically every Chairman he's dealt with and been told to take hike over his bargaining techniques and most frustrating of all is we've been saying this for years now and it has to stop. At this rate, we'll be stuck with Adebayor as no-one wants him, a midfield short of leadership, pace and width and a frontline led by a future captain who'll be a wreck by Christmas. I hope I'm wrong come 6pm.
A lot of desperation from fans and some of our rivals. Fortunately our club will stick with the policy that has been the source of our outperformance - trying not to overpay.
Power, I admire your steadfast defending of Levy. I don’t agree with it, but I admire it. To me, he has managed to do a good job overall while making a number of absolutely enormous mistakes, none worse than failing to get Moutinho. Except maybe his choice of managers. So here’s my take on our first and second teams, as things stand: Lloris Walker Aldi Vertonghen Rose Dier Mason Son Erikson Chadli Kane Vorm Trippier Fazio Wimmer Davies Bentaleb Alli Carroll Pritchard Clinton Lamela or Vorm Trippier Fazio Wimmer Davies Bentaleb Alli Pritchard Carroll Lamela Clinton That second team is missing a real DM as well as a real striker. It could use Yedlin at RM for pace, if you ask me. A couple of pacy players in him and Clinton, combined with a number of academy players, and it’s not a bad team at all. Trippier and Walker should switch teams. All the good aerial threats except Alli are in the first team. I find myself with a few questions: Anyone know how to bet the farm we won’t sign Austin in the US, where gambling on most things (other than the markets) is illegal? Does anyone think West Brom is doing anything other than playing us along so we don’t have time to get a backup striker?
Actually RWAEB your assessment of Levy is almost spot on the same as mine. Almost every other chairman in the PL has done worse though which suggests to me that it is a very hard job and better the devil we know than some random new owner who might do a Leeds with us.
Nathan Byrne has joined Wolves from Swindon for £1m. It's believed that we had a 50% sell-on clause for him. There's a bit more cash for us to not spend!
You can't have it both ways. We are predators we are often going after teams best players they are not going to roll over and let us take what we want. Just as we took stands when Chelsea and United came knocking. My gripe would be the scouts, Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea have all signed players that we ought to have been aware of. We seem to focus on particular areas and hope it solves our problems, atm Belgium seems to take up too much of our time and effort for example. It smacks of an inadequate scouting network.
LOL, from where I currently live, I can be in Belgium faster than I can London by car. I guess our scouts aren't great travellers!
