There's plenty of Lamela theories popping up online already: * Dembele's injured for six months * He's departure was based on another player coming in * Eriksen's got a long-term injury, so Lamela will fill in (although Physio Room has Eriksen down for a 13th September return) * The obvious other reason why we suddenly need a player as a No.10 in Eriksen's place... ...or, you know, there's the thing about OM having five loan players on their books already, so they couldn't loan in a sixth.
Pochettino blocks Lamela’s loan to Marseille, the stories go, because we don’t have a replacement in. Say what? I’ve been saying we lack RMs, but for the first time I think we do have a good option there, in Son, who is more or less two-footed and seems a little better on the right. We have any number of other players who can play on the right, including Yedlin. Is the idea that he feels he has to have a left footer on the right? I guess with Dembélé hurt, there isn’t one. But it doesn’t make any sense to me, so maybe the stories are wrong. The only thing I can say is that all these moves are so chancy it could, in theory, turn out to be a blessing in disguise. (edit) OM having too many players on loan seems like the sensible explanation.
Adebayor was at west ham talking to slaven bilic last night. Apparently west ham can't loan him as they've filled their loan quota. Keep your fingers crossed guys, we might actually sell him!!
I doubt it somehow. 9 and a half hours to go - can't see anything happening to be honest. We'll be here this evening with gossip from the ITKs about "last minute bids" and "we tried". Then, next window it'll be "lessons have been learned".
It would be better if we trusted our club to be doing the right thing rather than believing the rubbish spouted by ITKs and journalists. If you compare what Transfermarkt values our squad at, less the amounts we paid for it according to Transferleague then it shows we have made a net gain on transfers. This isn't true for say Liverpool and Man Utd although I've not got time to check everyone else. Of course we make mistakes but our club is run better in almost every respect than any other club in the PL which explains why it is one of the very few to outperform its resources over the last few years.
DEADLINE DAY!!! WOOOOO. Usually only 2nd in excitement to christmas day for Spurs fans. Although maybe not nowadays. I'm not expecting much to happen tbh
But that wouldn't be any fun, would it? and talking of "trusting our club to be doing the right thing", personally, I find that quite difficult. - Selling Berbatov on the final day and getting Frazier Campbell in return, signing Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha whilst we're making a CL push, and signing Fazio and Stambouli instead of the managers' preferred choices. (players who are sold a year later) This is why i have trust issues.
I think this is a case of the papers linking us to any other potential DM's that haven't been thought of yet.
I'm glad it's all over at 6.00. Plenty of time to wallow in self misery before heading to bed at a reasonable hour.
Yeah, that will be nice. I remember staying up late enough to think "yay, we kept Berba" only to wake up the next morning and realise he'd gone.
Those might well have been mistakes: the last two I'm not so sure of - how do we know who the players were that the manager wanted and whether they were available? But no-one is going to get everything right. We've got a squad which is worth >£200m according to Transfermarkt on almost no net spend. What would the doom and gloom merchants on here consider a success?
I was in Los Angeles when that happened. Absolutely mortified on a lads holiday and happened to be with one of my mates who is a united fan. - Never heard the end of it. - Especially as it was the time when we'd got 2 points from 8 games. (not even sure we had 2 points at that particular time). Horrendous experience! I'm off out with the missus today. Just hoping she'll be less stressful than deadline day!
Wasn't it common knowledge that Poch wanted Mussachio and Schneiderlin? Surely if Fazio and Stambouli were poch's choices and he'd said to Levy he wants them sold a year later, would there not be some alarm bells ringing in Levy's head over those choices, and therefore be asking questions of his coach??!!
haha. I only get my rumours/bullshit/ITK from social media. On transfer deadline day it's pointless looking at Twitter etc, anyway. If these ITK's do talk any truth, there's no way they can recieve info faster than the SSN journo's who are at the grounds across the country. so stick SSN on!
If Mussachio and Schneiderlin couldn't be brought for a reasonable price then it is very sensible to sign your second choices to male sure you have cover for the season. Anyway I imagine Levy has completely given up that we can ever have a manager who will be consistent on player quality (which isn't a criticism as I don't think any such manager even exists in our price range).
