The glaringly obvious difference is that Liverpool got one more season AND 50 million when Suarez was sold. We'd have got one more, more than likely half arsed, season then a bag of peanuts. He had to be sold.
All day you've been saying it's not about the money it's about improving your squad - yet you completely contradict yourself here as you've clearly made a key area weaker
To be fair, you did have to sell imo. As much as Christian thinks it's not about the money, when he's about to leave on a free - you'd be stupid not to get 30 odd mil. So I think it's a good deal. My point above was just pointing out a flaw that Christians been banging on about all day!!
Once he was benched I think he had to go tbf. It was never a Ronaldo/Fergie type relationship or situation. It was a LVG/Bench/DeGea situation and he wasn't going to sign a new contract. I think the sale had to happen.
It's not about the money, but to get a good price and a replacement in one deal is much better than money and no replacement.
I agree it's a good deal. This transfer window is just utter nonsense, so much ****ery going on it's unbelievable!
I can't give you that one Chief, you know full well we're making a comparison with last season Nice optimism on a dark day though
This It was either letting DeGea playing for us again for 10 months or letting him go for a good fee. After the tense relationship with LVG, there is no guarantee that De gea was going to regain his form. United played well in a difficult situation. Good replacement GK. The money was good too although it was more important that Real wasn't perceived to walk all over United.
It's crazy. Imagine if you were a young English player coming through, you may as well pack up and open a market stall. Or become a scout in France
Honestly, i would rather have had that belgian 1 in 2 donkey at my club who is cheaper than your 1 in 5 unknown to the world striker. He might another one of your gems like bebe
If we'd have forced De Gea to stay it would have been under sufference and he'd have lacked focus. He just wouldn't have been as good. As it goes, we've (the club anyway <business>) done ok out if it.
What you on about? Real took you down the garden path with Ramos and got your keeper. It's not about the money. Madrid got their man, and you didn't get your man. It's a good deal though, but don't try and make out you had one over on Real Madrid
You need to follow the whole convo atan. Junping in again like with my lampard. Christiansmith basically said it worth spending 36m on an unknown except united scouts as it shouldn't be about the price and just the fact hes an upgrade on rooney. He then went on to claim getting a great deal on de gea was genius (i actually agreed with this) but this totally contradicts his first belief that money isnt an object as long as the team is better as there is no benefit to getting rid of de gea except for monetary value.
