As much as I would love to have Sturridge on loan , I prefer we get in a permanent signing. We know that Ashley won't give out 20m at the end of his loan , no matter how many goals he scores during his loan spell.

 

Just face it lads, we're not getting any of the Carroll cash, or very little of it.

We've barely spent anything from the 35m dude. Think about it :

Nolan out 4 m - Cabaye in 5m. So that's 1m spent.

Ba , Marveaux , Abeid for free.

So 1m + wages = about 5m?

Where's the other 30m gone?

 

Ba and Marveaux cost a fair bit in signing on fees and agent fees, by no means "free transfers". There's no point trying to crunch the numbers cos in reality we have no idea how much each player cost.

 

Very little though. We've bought one player, sold another, and got the other 3 on a free.

As i've said before i know it's not all about spending cash on BIG players, but i'd like to see at least a reasonable portion of the money spent, that doesn't include agent fees and wages.

We haven't got enough depth in some places, it's not just strikers we need you know.

Fine we'll add 7-8-9m to those additional fees. Can't be more.

What about the other 21m We could have used a chunk of it on N'Zogbia and the other chunk on a striker and another left back.

 

Wages shouldn't be coming out of the 35m if it stops us from signing players. Ashley can't use the excuse that he had to pay off agents and players wages and therefore couldn't sign anyone else.

He's just given a bonus to his employees and bought a shop which he's invested in. That's were his priorities lie. He's technically not spent anything on us, he's just used the Carroll money to save himself from paying players wages and fees.

 

OK we'll do that, then there's 8 million set aside for a new striker plus some for a cover LB. That leaves about 10m which we're saving for January.

 

Actually yes they should, come next year when all the new rules come in we'll be in a damn sight better position than most teams in this league for it.

I was expecting us to use up the 35m now and use money from players sales and a little from Ashley's pocket in January. Hope you're right and that 8m will be enough for a new striker. Don't think that would leave 3m for additional fees and agent so probably take a little from the 10m in January and use it now for LB back up.
