So far this year I've heard 'regista' and 'forofo' mentioned and I still haven't checked what they mean, hipster football bollocks speak!

 

There was a classic example of this the other day, Saponara who plays for Empoli in the Serie A, commentator was calling him Shaponara, might as well have gone the whole way and called him Sharapova!

To be fair yesterday I'd have liked to have seen a bit more of the high jump and javelin finals, Not like they were inundated with action to cover. They had a lot of time to fill. They showed a montage of Jess's heptathlon (why not show all her races/best throws in full? The montage basically showed you what the seven events in the heptathlon are and then moved on to the next one).

Also, "right at the death" (is that on topic?), Gabby asked all the pundits for one sentence to sum up the championships. [Yoda] Laughable their responses were.[/Yoda]

 

Usually that refers to two teams that haven't played each other in 59 years.

not if it's at home and you know where the commentators sit. not if you know which end your fans are at. not if it's away at a ground you know. not if you want to know whether they have a better view of your left sided players or your right sided players and the action up that side of the pitch.

 

I find the playing left to right comment helpful tbh. I can picture what's happening and where then.

Unless it's RH in which case I've no clue wtf is happening on the pitch at all.

 

Hate the prevalence of people in football using the word "us" instead of "our". Paul Hurst is especially irritating with it, dust us selves off etc...

 

Well seven pages and just about everything a commentator has ever said is now ruled out.
