I feel the club hierarchy have got to support RK 100% in this matter. If RK gives the green light for Victor to go then that is fine, but he cannot be sold without RK's say-so. Besides I am puzzled as to why he would consider Tottenham. Or does he think he can inspire that club to Glory, Glory .....?
I actually think Victor and Spurs fans is a marriage made in hell. We all know how long he can take to settle into his game, and unlike us they are not a very forgiving lot. One misplaced pass in a vital area of the pitch and the muttering from the stands will begin.
The way the transfer window works, does not help. I think it's ridiculous that we still have all this will he won't he at the beginning of September, especially as all players and clubs have had since May to decide on their futures and new signings etc. Another system which a majority of the time favours the bigger richer clubs, ie, will be interesting to see how much the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs Arsenal, will spend in the next 30 hours or so, after poor to mediocre starts?
Very true. A spurs season ticket holding friend, has told me that there are already a few moaning that Toby is not the top class CB they require, and that he is to slow? Maybe these so called big clubs will realise soon that saints are a team, not one of world class players?
Some do. Monreal was bought by Arsenal after United slammed 8 past them and he's been more than adequate since.
And this is a very important point...being weak just stores up problems for the future. As Ron said...it's different when a player has only one year on his contract, but different when an important player has two years left. Look like pushovers and players would sign contracts with us just to get in the showcase of the PL and hope to move on just when they like....how could any manager make plans under those conditions? Ideal situation: Victor grows up and decides to knuckle down for the rest of the season...he could then be sold with only a year on his contract and we have had a chance to plan for his exit. Wicked situation: We discover we don't need him and he becomes bench fodder
Strewth.....Wanyama's outburst has really got us talking. It is so nice to see that despite differing opinions people are prepared to discuss their opinions without the need to insult each other. Well done guys...nice one. Now for my 5 peneth...........When Wanyama came to Saints I had the distinct impression that he did not particularly want to come hence why the transfer was dragged out somewhat. Although others did blame Celtic for the time it took. The same could be said regarding the current CB we are trying to sign from them. If memory serves it took a while for Wanyama to settle at Saints and the impression that Pochettino took him under his wing somewhat. Saints in my opinion have not had a significant understudy for him, but with recent signings have obviously been looking to alter this. This possibly may have unsettled him, to find that he was not going to be automatic first choice anymore. With Pochettino he was told he was always going to be. (via my own sources within the club) In reality I'm not sure if this has unsettled him, but something clearly has. My advice to him would be to hang on, lets see how things pan out. Spurs for me is not his best move as a step up at least not at the moment. Pochettino is under a lot of pressure to produce more than ever he was at Saints. Their owner does not have a reputation for patience. If he hasn't improved their situation by the 10/12th game he could well be out the door. That is always assuming he actually waits that long even. From what I have seen of Spurs, Wanyama is not going to make that much difference to their current situation. As for the suggestion that even if he does knuckle down and start playing again he is likely to be booed. This would be a shame and should be discouraged, after all if RK is right......he 'aint going nowhere and will be a Saints player for at least another year supposedly! We need all the decent players we can get hold of...........playing at their best
My memory may be hazy (or red and white striped) but I thought his agent was playing up and Victor was the one pushing for a move here. At the back of my mind somewhere.
Stuart Pearce (in the context of Wanyama's position) was saying that it's the managers he feels sorry for because they make plans then their players are sold. Then suggested that Koeman may say Victor isn't for sale, but we are a selling club and you never know what the board will do. I would suggest that the Saints board would be very reluctant to make a manager of Koeman's stature pissed off by making him look a fool. Similarly, it would be very unlikely that Ronald would say what he has without the board's backing.
I don't think Pearce has the remotest clue about the inner working relationship of Gareth Rogers, Les Reed and Ronald Koeman [and Ralph occasionally]. It's my belief that this Board especially operates on integrity and trust between each person. Blow that and you basically blow everything. Saints are not about to make Ronald look stupid. He'll be in full possession of the details.
Easily resolved. Get your head down and dominate games in the middle of the park. We're a fickle, forgiving bunch. A couple of games like that and everything will be fine. You never know Vic, you might even enjoy it!
I'm usually a forgiving chap, but I found that Morgan was not quite the same for me after his antics of last season. Victor has some real climbing to do if he is going to win my approval again.
Oh I agree, he's burnt bridges badly here, and will never get 100% love again sadly. However, in terms of sorting the situation, that would do just fine.
