Although it makes Thursdays bizarre performance even more baffling this was a very good display - tadic outstanding. Plenty of good performances. Also thought target played well.
Just remember: Koeman - We don't party when we win and we don't make **** when we lose. So I take it I can put away those numerous picturesque walking routes to various suicide high points, now then yeah.?
Speaking of Sky nonsense, can we finish with prematch stats like "Alex Neil hasn't lost in 14 away games", "there's only been 7 home wins this season" etc. So what. They don't mean anything.
Balance to the team and we go back to playing good football, who'd of thunk it. Reed really seems to have fallen out of favour with Ron. Seems less willing to play him than even last season. If Ron takes one thing from this game I hope it's Tadic is far more influential on the left. Something that's been glaringly obvious for a long time but for some reason Ron's been largely against.
might have just been me but I honestly thought that our two worst performers were Our home grown younguns. Targett crossing and throw in were poor and prowse was ok in the middle but nothing special, plus his corners and free kicks were poor with many completely off target. Pity as I want them to do well and push into the team but hard to hold a place for them when I see Bertrand and wanyama back.impressed with juanmi.
Very happy with the scoreline and the swagger seems to have returned. The only concern is regarding the number of misplaced passes today. Against better opposition we might have been punished. Overall though, it seems that we are back.
I actually enjoyed watching my team play football again today, they kept it on the ground and passed it to one another. Mane was excellent.
Disagree completely. Targett was so much more comfortable linking up with Tadić than at any time this season, and got into some good positions. JWP had his best game ever for Southampton, and but for a great save would have scored in the first couple of minutes. He also did well for our first goal, tackling back and sliding the ball to Mané. I agree Targett will probably lose out when Bertrand is back, but JWP is definitely making a case for himself.
It was also JWP's little chipped ball which led to their red card. Targett was solid defensively, but let himself down badly when it came to crossing from decent positions - including leaving us exposed to a counter attack on one occasion. Certainly he was better than in recent games, but I'll still be much happier once Bertrand is back. Especially if Tadic remains on the left.
Can we please have a moment for the Dusan drag-back/flick/nutmeg on Whittaker in the first half? I'll be that wound him up a treat too. Just enough to get sent off....
James had one of his best games for Saints today and then you compound your poor judgement by saying you were impressed with Juanmi. It wasn't you who telephoned the BBC to say Ronald should go by any chance was it? You are going to have to do a great deal of work to restore my faith in your judgement matey.
Smiles better I understand the reasons for the back five, but we looked much more comfortable and we kept possession much better because there were more forward options. The sending off helped of course, but great to see some width in the team and getting the ball to Mane and Tadic in one on one situations high up the pitch
Just watching the third goal. I like how Brady appeals (limply) for off-side on Tadic, when the majority of Brady's body is off the pitch, behind the goal-line.
