Looks like it's going to be a tough old season. Almost every team seems to have strong self-belief and enough strengths to beat anyone else on their day. Our early results have been positive but performances have been less encouraging and we're yet to face any of the fancied teams. What are people's first thoughts?
Wolves are a fancied team Craig. First thoughts? I hate it and want to be back in the PL. More games on a Saturday 3pm-positive. More games midweek-positive.
Hate midweek games with a passion. It's nice to win more than we lose. We're not gonna lose all season and we'll be promoted as Champions. I hope we're stronger when we go up and we stay up to become an established mid table PL team that makes at least the semis in the FA and League cups every season. I also miss all the plastics we attract in the PL.
Anyone can beat anybody and no team looks to be really bossing the league, Early days, yet of course but you feel that the league is starting to take shape.
I think the difference in quality between the Championship and the Premier League is by far the largest it's ever been. If we'd played as we have in the opening games of a Premier League campaign we'd have been put to the sword. You get away with so many errors which are punished in the top flight. It's nice to go into a game thinking you might win for once though, and I prefer playing more often.
Interesting that more Championship clubs seem to be splashing the cash with a view to grabbing the golden ticket come the end of the season, but with only three to go up, I suspect a lot could be in financial sh1t street when they aren`t one of the three. On a City note, we don`t have anyone to fear in this Division that I have seen so far, we are well organised and strong in defence, I do think we need another goal scoring striker and a solid goalkeeper, and to keep hold of Dawson, Diame, and Davies. Should we do this then I am confident even though we have not hit the heights performance wise, that we could and should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. The distinct difference in the Championship is that every team has a chance, which adds to the excitement.
The bookies favourites in Derby and Boro are struggling. Surprises have come from Charlton and Brighton so far. QPR are doing okay, as are Ipswich and Wolves. Meanwhile, at our end, going into the first international break, we can't complain at being second. Sure we could have had Gray in our team but we will make do with what we have and hope a striker comes in very soon. Performances aren't quite there but bits are slowly clicking - when it properly does, we'll be challenging the top 6 if not the top 2.
All three of the relegated clubs are in the Top 10 with each making key signings without losing the majority of their teams. QPRs squad looks pretty decent and I'm confident they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. With the Wendies bidding £10m for McCormack and Boro bidding £13m for Rhodes earlier in the summer then is money to be spent. Tuesday might get interesting
I do think QPR will lose Austin before the window closes. At least being 2nd until after the window closes it should make it easier for any potential signings to feel that we are genuine contenders.
Watching the Swansea game today - we are clueless and wouldn't stand a chance if we were back up. We haven't really shown any quality this season, but somehow are getting results. It can't be the tactics can it ? It'll be a hard slog this season.
We look comfortable enough and if we keep most of the squad together we'll do well It's good to go to home games expecting to get points rather than just hoping we might No really outstanding team - consistency will be the key When (if?) we really hit our stride we will thump someone for 5 or 6
