We actually changed our shape so often it was hard to keep track of. First half was half 4-4-2, half 4-5-1, which started with Akpom wide left then Hernandez moved there about 5 minutes later with Akpom going back central. We started the second half 4-4-2 then very quickly changed back to 4-5-1, then Aluko and Maloney came on, back to 4-4-2 and within about 3 minutes it was 4-5-1 again with Aluko left and Maloney central, another three minutes later Maloney and Aluko swapped places. Was a lot of chopping about. Elmo seemed to have a spell of 10 or so minutes when he was positioned more centrally as well.
I always feel it's better for players to be able to interchange with each other, it should be able to drag the opposition out of their formation & confuse them! So not a bad thing!
No but I think what you're on about is more filling in when one player ventures out of position. There was a lot of moving players about the pitch today. At one point SB had to call Diame over whilst the ball was in play to tell him where he was meant to be, because Mo hadnt got a ****ing clue. That shouldn't happen.
To be fair, unless you were stood there with them, you don't know that's what that conversation was about. It could have been a tactical switch rather than telling him where he should already be.
well according to you, the only people that actually saw the game were there. so no ones votes should really be counted. oh apart from yours of course.
Dawson Davies Diame Clucas unlucky to miss out, he looks every bit a capable replacement for Quinn. Not sure how Meyler made some people's top 3, I (and a fair amount of others around me) thought he made too many mistakes today, I'd rather have seen Hayden start.
You need to swap seats with me then Hat and see how long you can put up with the constant Meyler groaning that comes from the guy behind me.
I like him but didn't think he was great yesterday. The last couple of times Hayden has come on he's offered a real attacking threat from midfield and shockingly had some shots at goal, I'd like to see him get more game time.
For me, Hayden is the more natural replacement for Huddlestone but it's difficult to start him whilst Diame is also available.
I don't think the team we played against yesterday were at that level where we really needed to confuse them, we just needed players and a formation that dominated the midfield.
