For years we were **** & it was always we need this to happen, that to happen, then it happens & still not happy because we have to move on to the next level, when we do still not happy. We were in the Championship & we complain about some of the "big teams" who come to us & start ranting, "we should be beating teams like Hull!" So then we get promoted to the PL & start looking at the teams we have a chance of getting points from, but it's not the teams we have a chance of getting points from, it's now teams "we should be getting points from!" We get relegated same scenario, SB comes in, same old same old, we get promoted we have shocks, then we lose to some **** teams & whining about him we should be beating teams like Burnley, West Brom & Lichester! Ironically it was last minute goals against 2 top 3 sides which eventually cost us, Arsenal 2-2 & Man City 1-1, add that throw in v Stoke that lead to their goal & that was what could have saved us. However getting back to the point, that everyone's slagging off Abel H for missing sitters, how many times have we said, if only we could get the bounce of the ball in our favour, that's what we got today with his goal, same last week v Charlton. One minute the players are shot & the next world beaters. I just watched MOTD & there were some absolute horror misses on there from people who would expect to score more than Abel H. Same with SB, he's got us up to 2nd & we're playing a bit **** by all accounts, I can only go off the Charlton game as that's the only one I've seen, yes we're not brilliant, but I'm sure some of those teams at the bottom would rather be where we are than where they are. What would you rather have 4-3 defeats every other week & a mid table finish or clean sheets, a couple of goals, top 2? Here's an example of some of the people who were on 5 live tonight commenting on their managers/teams, these may not be direct comments, they're what a friend told me: "Chelsea fan - 'Mourinho has no plan B amd he's lost it Arsenal fan - 'if Wenger doesn't spend all his money he should go Liverpool fans - 'Brenda out Southampton fan - 'Koeman needs to sort it by Christmas or he should go... Everton - Martinez doesn't know what he's doing Meanwhile Pellegrini who was 'rubbish' last season is now a God and one single Newcastle fan on saying, 'I never wanted Pardew to go and McLaren can't hack the premier league"
Terrific post and bang on. We dont want to be in Europa league. We dont want to be in the cup comps !!! This can only come from the younger element surely. Jesus some even missed the fa semi to go to the final. Prem brings totally unrealitic expectations
I don't think it is just the younger element to be fair. We do seem to have some that only really started watching us in the last decade, but claim longer heritage because they went to one or maybe two games decades ago. The tell tale is nobody from that era recognising them, as over the years, you may not know the name, but you remember the face. Before anyone gets upset, no, being a longer term fan doesn't make you a better fan, if anything it makes us dinosaurs stuck in a bygone age, but generally we're more stoic and enjoy the whole day out as much if not more than the 90 minutes of pig skin abuse.
Loving this season. Every game we have a decent chance of winning.. Got some great away games to come. Teams doing ok Only complaint i have is theres to many empty seats.
Positivity? We've played 7 games so far this season and scored in all of them. Not bad for a team that allegedly can't score goals.
After the Transfer Window closes, and we have sorted out our Emergency Loans, things will be clearer.
This is a forum, people are going to discuss how we played and if it was ****(like Charlton or Rochdale), then people are obviously going to say so, it doesn't make them deluded or unreasonable. In fact, making sweeping and inaccurate statements, like 'everyone's slagging off Abel H for missing sitters', is probably worse.
I think the point the poster was making was the annoyance of doom and gloom merchants whose opinion of a player or the team's outlook for the season can shift from game to game, or even from incident to incident within a game. The ****er who sits behind me will be slagging Meyler off for every wayward pass or for passing sideways, or for slowing the play down etc even when we are winning 1 nil. As soon as its 2 nil, Meyler suddenly turns into a ****ing grafter who is praised for every tackle he wins. If only the ignore button existed in real life.
Bruce is a ****, the Allams are ****s, and times have changed. I think you'll find Ticklers a prime example. Changes his mind every week. I've hated Steve Bruce since long before he was our manager and my opinion has never changed. Most on here thought Bruce was a bumbling buffoon before he came, but as soon as he signed he was the messiah.
I agree with your general view, some people are never happy. I thought Abel H was good yesterday, he is actually getting in position to score, which is creating chances. He will get more goals in this league if he stays.
Maybe not as soon as he signed but not too long after, so I'll hold my hands up to being guilty as charged to that one.
I was stating it was £27 to watch the Hudd match. The opponents are irrelevant. You think £27 is a good price?
It's better than a good few. £30 has been my upper limit for a while. The pricing at football has never really been nust about income or value as such. It's just another tool to get rid of the less compliant types and turn the football experience into the sanitised affair it now is.
