Blackett to the celts on a season long loan. Boyata and Tyler will have RVP ****ting himself. Also, trying to finalise transfer of Christie from Caley. Great news, we're sorely missing an AM so I'm really chuffed we're close to signing him.
Wee Jay will be lovin' it. Apparently have a £3m buy clause for Blackett. How the **** is he worth £3m? He has played 11 games for Utd!
Got to say that Christie is a good signing no matter what else is going on. Anyone who thinks differently clearly hasn't seen enough of him, Caley would have been relegation candidates and wouldn't have won the Scottish Cup without him in the team. Simple as that. Commons is finished IMO he does **** all apart from shoot from distance, Johansen will go next summer most likely leaving Rogic, Christie and Henderson to fight for the #10 position. EDIT: Forgot about Armstrong who can also play there.
It's not that I don't rate him. It's that we'll have 4 or more AMs if you include Allan, Christie, Rogic, Johansen, Armstrong, and possibly Henderson (who I thought was more of a CM?). Was Deila not trying Rogic out deeper, around Brown's position?
At £500k, much like Allan, it's a worthwhile gamble. Some of Celtic's best transfers have been below £1m (Larsson, McNamara, Agathe, Balde, Wanyama, Varga etc.) I think Rogic has the ability to play a few positions. He's just been seriously unlucky with injuries. I'm happy to wait until the window closes before passing judgement. But if they don't sign a decent striker either with a transfer or on loan then they can **** right off. Griffiths and Ciftci no good enough to play in Europe for me.
Then he has to get game time. You'll never move a guy on by sticking him in the reserves or on the bench. This is how we lost £5m on Pukki and Balde, add in £3m for Scepovic plus wages for the 3 of them and there's £15-20m spunked down the drain in 3 seasons. The scouting team couldn't find a decent goal-scorer if they went and watched Messi and Ronaldo FFS. Our best two strikers in the past 6 years came from Scunthorpe and Wolves.
The " buy potential / develop/sell on " model is all well and good but I dont think it can really work for us while maintaining a strict wage structure. We should bite the bullet and break that structure for a few key positions/players and maintain the model with the majority of the squad. Its not really rocket science. Or mibbees ahm just right ****ed aff n` that the noo.
Cannae see them ever breaking the wage structure. Fenerbache spent an astronomical amount on transfers and wages and never made the CL either. Spending money doesn't guarantee success, signing the correct players does.
Look at the money Man City have spent and have been utter **** in every group they've been in. If they had to qualify - like we did - they would probably be in the EL too.
Agreed. The problem is that too many Celtic fans seem to be under the misapprehension that we're either a big or a rich club on the European front. We are minnows who happen to be giants in our own backwater.
And its not likely to change anytime soon, or ever. EL is our level just now, that's no disgrace, plenty of other teams in the EL have more money than we do, I can live with that.
Get yourself onto CQN and read some of the comments. These ****s are unreal; apparently it's Lawwell's fault we never qualified because he withholds money so he can get a bigger bonus and pension. One guy said he posted his season ticket back to the club. Actual *****s.
Aye, but ahm still pure ****ed aff n` that, Its like that **** Liewell disnae gie a **** aboot wee jay or anythin`
Christie is a cracking player, I suppose if you can get him for that price now it's worth doing the deal and making that investment. Think we've learned that once these plaulyers are at a certain level each week they will get attracted to England or we get priced out. I just think we could do with competition in defensive midfield, Rogic did ok domestically as could Mulgrew, Johansen hasn't impressed in that position but in Europe or to even improve the squad I think another there would help. Blackett can play centreback or leftback, don't see him as replacement for vvd, just gives us more options. Might even see a switch to 3 at the back as without Lustig I don't think he trusts the fullbacks defensively and look troubled centrally too.
Lustig, Boyata, Blackett as a back 3? Can see that working at home in the league when teams pack the defence.
