Alreet, so been reading all about our monstrous pitch invasion. Evil thats what we are !
Look the problem with pitch invasion is there's always some drunken tosser who wants to hit people. Now I've got nothing against people drinking, (wait for it) but, none of this idiocy would have happened if no alchohol was involved(the so called fighting I mean, not the harmless bit of fun that preceded it). I've also seen some of the guys on here telling how one bloke in particular was already well out of it by 5:30. So why let them into the ground is my question. By all means if people have had one or two no problem. If they're pissed as turn them away man, end of problem.
Hope you're all having a splendid Saturday night in the toon - notice how if you're too drunk they will not let you in. See if pubs can do it surely footie grounds can.
By the way how do you change your user name on here as I'd like a fancy new moniker for the new season.
    Gan canny !

Completely agree, even I knew people had too much before I even got to the turnstiles.

Darlo stadium staff's fault: don'tlet in drunks
Our fault: don't go on the pitch, even for a moment's laugh, and give the numpty's a chance to hit each other

our fault is quite a bit biggerthan the Darlo staff i think

If everybody that had drink in them going to a game was turned away there'd be quite a drop in attendances.

The Darlo staff didn't have a clue that the idiots were going to cause trouble and have the game delayed, they aren't responsible for the bad behaviour of fans once they're inside the ground. If they'd been behaving badly going into the ground they'd have been stopped and turned away as a matter of common sense.

The morons need to be taught a lesson and should be banned from SJP.

the law as it stands is an ass
It is an offence to try and gain entry to a football stadium whilst under the influence of alcohol

yet when you get inside there is nothing to stop you getting pissed as a fart

(apart from the cost that is)

It's easy to be wise after the event, but how many times have the Darlo staff had over 6,000 away fans to deal with?

Put yourself in their place for a moment and consider if you would have tried to stop so many yobs from going onto the pitch. The buck stops with the individuals and they should have had more sense than to go onto the pitch. It wasn't clever, it wasn't funny, and it was totally out of order and unacceptable.

Yep, sorry but the OP really tugged at my droopy appendage.

Take responsibility please for your own fan's actions because they are an utter disgrace in this instance. I know it's embarrassing and we were embarrassed when one of our lads pushed a goalie - many of you here were quick to jump on that with the battlecry: 'points deducted' - personally, I think this is a very effective way to send out a very strong message to you and other teams too, however, I would not wish this upon you for something such as this. I'd much sooner be put in charge of the offender's testicles for a while - jus' a thought. <ok>

This. I usually have a few pre-match drinks but never seen the point in those that are boarderline paryletic before the match has started. It's not cheap to go to a football match so what's the point in being completely out of it? When I arrived at Villa Park last season the first thing I saw was one of our 'fans' getting carted off by the police, kicking off, clearly smashed off his face and this was a good 45 mins before kick off. Everyone has their own idea of a good day out. If you can handle your drink, can have a good time after a few and remain in some control then carry on. If you're an agressive drunk and not in control of your own actions then you should either a) stay at home, spend the money you had for the match ticket on booze and drink yourself into a coma in the comfort of your own home or b) take a good look at yourself and limit the amount you drink before, during and after the match. A bit of self discipline isn't difficult.

I agree though, these type of people who get to this level are in the minority. Most of us have a few, have a good time and enjoy the match. Sadly those that go OTT get the headlines.

    Shameless:

Your second post is sensible and you will see most of the people on the board do take responsibility for our fans.

Your first post isthe sort of thingthat justgenerates abusive responses. Perhaps start with the second one first next time ?

Ok, the attempt at raising the level of discussion above abuse has failed

I've just reread the thread. I don't see any abuse except in your post. I don't see any abusive responses to your post.

I didn't say anyone had abused me <doh> - I responded with a wee sweary to taotoon's OP <add another doh thingy, but make it look a bit more dysfunctional>, so what, are you offended by that?

    But seems as you asked:

A bit cowardly in that no one added their names ... tut-tut.

We all have our cross to bear son, anyway, good luck with all that.

only know the saying from the billy joel song, so forgive me if i mis-understand! But comparing the effects and side effects of cannabis and alcohol i dont see how anyone can think that cannabis is as bad as/worse for you then alcohol! for the effects well what happened at darlington is a prime example of what it does, and the side effects, well its capable of killing, can become physically addictive and well if youve ever been to the job centre that can happen! lol saying that though i love a good drink i just think its worse for you then getting high :) i might have went way off topic if i mis-understood your metaphor :)
