Match Day Thread 2015/16 Premier League, Cups & Euro Watch

Never lost against any of the 3 teams in our group apparently, although never played Kazan. Let's hope that doesn't change.

 

correction... the games off small clubs are only televised cos sky are forced to pick some to give all a minimum amount per year.

however it does limit the available games to one day and there are NORMALLY only 2 on.

Monday is then out the window unless theres no europa game that week... saturday is the same so when theres one game per week in europa you can find your games cut right down.

LFC would have a draw still for LV that we would be on lot even though we were ****e last year.

our first 3 games this year were all on sky. the utd game will be on sky as well... so only west ham game won't be live anywhere... then we've a break until october when all 4 games then will be on sky or BT.

once games start moving what do you do?

I think personally having some onf these europa game son at 6pm before CL at 8pm would be ideal solution as then tv at weekend is unaffected

Someone already worked this out before the draw was made:

There are six group matches to be played and the dates are - September 17, October 1, October 22, November 5, November 26, December 10. All games take place on a Thursday.

For Liverpool their first match takes place three days before a home game against Norwich in the Premier League while the second matchday is three days before a Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park.
Liverpool will have home Premier League encounters after the remaining four Europa League matchdays - Southampton on Oct 25, Crystal Palace on Nov 8, Swansea on Nov 29 and West Brom on Dec 13/14.

So I'm guessing Rubin away will be the first game Sep 17 ?? If so good to get that out of the way first game, travel wise at least.

 

Looks like we definitely got the weakest Pool A team - the other 2 are nothing at all to be afraid of. We do need to see Rodgers come up with a proper European way of playing here though - good signs thus far in the league regarding that though.

I like the fact the 5 man groups are gone. that reduces the number of games right off the bat

6 groups games first 2 qualify = 24 teams

round of 32 = 24 + 8 **** CL teams

= 15 games to win it now.

 

not the games are done by a strict table.

they are no 1 we re no 2.

this game will be match day 2 which is the ocotber 1st timing.

 

I see 14/16 teams in there that have pedigree. As i said its a much maligned comp especially by those even smaller who don't have the balls to play in it.

Team in CL can have a go as the big boys and whine about having it as consolation prize for 3rd places ****es... but.... teams who can't be arsed trying even cos survival is all important...

Ah thanks I was trying to remember order of play - thought first games were 1 v 2 ... 3 v 4 - which meant us away in Russia. So what is our first game then?

IF of course the regulations hold true.

I'd find that really favorable. should try at least to be all but qualified playing bordeaux away and only need a draw there.

 

Thanks. The Russia away trip was the only concern, so if the above fixtures are correct, it's Russia then derby game Goodison - not the game you'd want following that trip from our PL/EL fixtures mix.

Why not?

you can send a couple hardy suols to shiver on the bench if they really feel the need to .

not one of those would be missed if they missed the derby game as a result.

Sending out such an obvious second team is asking for trouble. However good they may be, ultimately it will give a lift to the opposition and will impact on morale if there is a defeat.

Rodgers first season he did similar against anji (and lost there 1-0 too)

if you rather win the derby maybe you have to do this....

if you win the first game at home then you can think baout it... perhaps you can't afford to do it then.. who knows.

But the options exist to really mix it up don't they?

Perhaps this team is the extreme example but we could drop 3/4 1st 11 into that team like say clyne, skertl, milner and would it be all that weak?

 

Yeah that's exactly it (well sort of as she comes with me most weeks). For me football is about Saturday afternoons, Sky ****ing about with the kick off times is bad enough, but then when most of your other games are then shifted to Sunday because of the EL, it's a real pain. Especially for me as a distance match goer, as my 5 hour round trip on a Saturday leaves me with Sunday to chill out, but when it was Sunday and then work Monday morning it ruined the weekends.

 

Look at what happened v/s Real. Rodgers was lambasted. And fat lot of good it did in terms of the premiership match.

If we win that's fine. Otherwise we get accused of disrespecting the competition.

 

The EL rules are clear like the CL rules we were accused of breaching against Real - ''.... d) to play in the competition until their elimination and to field their strongest team ...

 

It will take a lot of Rodgher's hot air to justify Ings, Origi, Bogdan, Toure et al in our strongest team....
