    Kabul is, like many places, both a place name and a name-name.

    Indeed, before the Soviet era, Kabul was actually called Khankhaz as it was previously thought that the *****l empire ransacked the city en-route to Europe. During Soviet occupation it was renamed Andrograd after Soviet leader Yuri Andropov. During this era, much like most of Asia, English football became very popular and was the only respite from the Communist persecution for the Afghan people who grew very fond of Wolverhampton Wanderers due to their orange strips being synonymous with the previous Mohmaod dynasty.

    After the overthrow of the Soviets, English football and Wolves popularity continued to grow, to such extent that they named Andrograd after Wolves legend Steve Kabul.
