4 consecutive games of absolute dross, something needs to change very quickly or we're in big trouble this year.
Correct, but by the time we're at full strength we might be already be in all sorts of trouble. It's a question of whether they will be able to stop the rot or not at that point.
Genuinely think Adkins championship team would beat our current team and style. What the ****ing hell is going on. 5 at the back? If we don't trust our full backs, we should ****ing play different fullbacks ffs
People have to get it off their chest Beefy. What better place than here? We are awful at the moment, I don't think anyone can argue against that.
I would say that the second half of that sentence is the most important thing. Yes Tadic did do well when he came on, and yes he has shown in the past that that wasn't a one-off for him (and I am a fan of his). But he does also put in some poor performances. The absolute key is that we go back to actually playing the ball on the deck. I know we've lost Morgan, I know that. Gone is the option of the CBs just laying the ball off to Morgan and starting the move from there. And likewise, yes without Clyne and/or Bertrand pushing on down either or both wings we have much less of an option of laying the ball off out wide to start the move off from there instead. But it does not mean that he have to go to completely the other end of the spectrum and just punt it up to Pelle every time. GET THE BALL DOWN. That has to be the case whether we play Tadic, Juanmi, Mane, JWP, whoever.
We were very poor tonight, but what you said above is right. I've been saying for a while (starting towards the end of last season) that we have been playing too direct. for a long while we've mostly lumped it forward to Pelle and it hasn't worked. Knocking a direct long ball forward in today's football is too easy to defend against. However, I'm not going to start slagging the manager off, or the players. It's happened and it is what it is. We've got some work to do and I'm sure Ron will sort it out. I hope he reverts to playing football again and keeping it on the floor more in approach play and work on getting men forward with the ball quicker.
Disappointed with lack of creativity and the tactics were controversial. Not going to project forward with predictions of gloom though- I have to wonder if the ref had not ignored the most blatant handball ever we would be watching extra time
Oh absolutely, played right into their hands. didn't for a minute think we would get anything second half unfortunately.
Tom - thanks for the reminder - from a selfish perspective that, at least, has put a better spin on tonight's debacle. Living in the Middle East means I rarely see a Sunday game.
Sport can be **** sometimes, and tonight is one of those times. The pride from last season and the expectations of this season brought crashing back to the ground as a reality check. Really don't want to see that line up, formation picked again, would rather we gave some of the kids, especially Reed a chance.
Le Tiss says - Think we have been a bit spoilt over the last couple of years. Have some important players missing at the moment #dontpanic
This is when I realise how calm I am. Yeah it was a bad display and yeah we should have done better. But I am not going to have a massive moan about it. I will just get ready for the next game. I enjoyed are little stay in Europe tho even if it did end too early.
