I was close(ish). Every time we qualify for the CL I hope we get Real Madrid and who do Malmo get? Get to **** Deila ya useless prick.
Think players get a hard time about moving for money, it's an easy shout when a player moves to say he's moved for money. Sterling and Delph have both recently been accused of it, but they've moved to a better team with a realistic chance of winning medals. Some players would move here if we offered them loads of money, but I'd prefer to have players like Izzy who travels to Honduras 10 times a year and always comes straight back in time for the next game where he plays 90 minutes and don't stop running then some **** who played well in a U21 tournament and thinks he's the dogs bollocks demanding £50k a week only to try and **** off the next transfer window. Truth is our league is one of the poorest in Europe. Most highly rated players play in better leagues then ours so it's hard to convince them to move here regardless of wages. The players we do get are gambles like VVD or Wanyama or from poorer leagues across Europe and beyond like Izzy, Ki, Bitton etc. Ledley, Matthews and Hooper were very highly rated players when we signed them. They didn't come here for money, they came here for CL football and win medals. Ledley had offers from Everton and Roma, Matthews from Liverpool before we got them on free transfers, Hooper turned down championship sides challenging for promotion......would todays equivalents sign for us this season seeing as we no longer can guarantee them cl like we could a few years back??
Just to put things into context here, Southampton have spent £100m on players over the past two transfer windows but were pumped out of the EL last night by a team from Denmark (incidentally, the only goal was scored by a certain Morten Rasmussen.)
