We never back the manager, good fortune and the comedy at Ibrox make us forget this Now we have a few years to hopefully put into place something that doesn’t mean we need to sell our players every year... And I don't think this is masterful planning from Lawwell, just an opportunity that arose
Lets be honest, how many £4m+ rated players want to play in the spl and 6 Europa League games? Forget if Lawwell would pay that much or break the wage structure etc, in pure footballing terms who would?? Getting in to the CL is getting harder each year, if we want to attract better players we have to prove that we are a CL club by constantly qualifying. For me, this side is good enough to qualify and nick a few points and with a good draw look at getting 3rd place and dropping into the Europa. Malmo are ****. I saw nothing in the first leg that worried me. The manager has to be at fault for our performance, his instructions had to be to slow the game down from the first minute. Why else 4 minutes in would we be time-wasting?? Why did Mulgrew play leftback when just 4 weeks ago he said Mulgrew was a midfielder who could cover at the back? I could understand if he tried Mulgrew there the weekend but he played him midfield so why throw the whole balance of the team out by removing the only pace we had on the left?? Away in Europe is all about attacking on the counter with pace yet we had no width on the left and Forrest and Janko both standing next to each other on the right as both like to get on the outside. Basics. Why was Johansen dropped in to the middle alongside Brown?? The sitting midfielder controls the play, a big role of the number 10 is not just to support Griffiths in attack but positional wise it's to disrupt the opposition having time and space to control the game. Basics. Not calling for the managers head at all, think he felt the pressure from above about how important CL football is and was scared to lose rather than get us playing our normal way.
As far as i'm concerned it's done and dusted, who knows, we might get some decent teams in the EL? An English side would guarantee a full house, Soton maybe? We were ****e but I think we are a decent side, better than Malmo imho, we were just atrociously bad on the night again, but hey ho, onwards and upwards, I don't worry myself over things where I have no real control or influence, whether that be football or Politics, whatever.
Loads of players will go anywhere if the money is enough, the problem you then have is motivating them as they already have the deal. Some come in the hope they will be noticed and get the move for more money, the problem they then have is its about them and not the team. There will be guys in each group that will be different and pride themselves on hard work, some who will relate to a certain coach and work for them, these are generally of lesser ability.
Sampdoria? Are things that bad there now? Edit: Just checked - he's on loan with Al Hilal in Sandland.
If Southampton in the Europa guarantee a full house ill admit 9/11 was 19 arab terrorists with bombproof passports.
That's as may be, but there will still be a sell out, especially if VVD ends up there and Big Victor does not lave for Spurs.
VVD can **** right off, and its odds on he will. Southampton could pump us, they have different class players, still dont see many getting excited about the game. The day we start aspiring to play Southampton in the Europa is a bad ****in day.
Who even looks forward to the Europa honestly? They play that ****e music before the game and it just depresses you about how **** this is compared the champions league.
Who said we should aspire to play Soton, I'm simply stating a fact that for Celtic fans - in general - there is nothing better than English opposition.
