Should have been higher for the shock value. Didn't get to the Emirates but watched it with mates in the Piper club. We were surrounded by students who were Arsenal fans and God were they complacently arrogant in expecting anything from a 4-0 to 7-0 victory. Such joy!
The Arsenal fans that day were probably the best PL fans that I came across that season - they were genuinely magnanimous in defeat; which was really strange, cos' they've been 100% snidey, ****sworths ever since.
My greatest day ever as a City fan. At the time it was the longest odds ever given on an away Premier League win - 23/1.
I was sat watching that game at home on one of those excellent streams you used to get on Sopcast. I was eating a pizza as Geovanni scored, I remember my jaw just dropped to the floor and the slice in my hand went with it.
Yup indeed. The Arsenal fans were brilliant. I went to the game with a mate whose parents were from North London and Arsenal fans. We stayed at a flat in Clapham, rented by a couple of his mates who were Arsenal fans. At the final whistle and once almost all the Gooners had gone, we went over to his mates who had come across to the away seats from the home seats. We were chanting at them as we approached them and the stewards were BRILLIANT. They saw it was banter with friends and as we met over the seats they were just grinning and giving thumbs up and that. Afterwards we went to that pub opposite the stone Arsenal letters. The fans were just great in that pub. I don't suppose they'd have been as nice if we were a top Prem team, but that was one of the best away days of them all. Still can't stand their team though PS my mate said "Look at the space Geo's got!" just a second before he unleashed That shot. I also remember Wenger throwing his water bottle down and our fans loving it when showed on the big screen.
Yep. It was the day I stopped supporting Arsenal and switched to my hometown club. I've regretted it since mind.
The Arsenal fans in the tier above us were leaning over at the end, applauding us and our team. Very magnanimous especially after their not unexpected arrogance at 1-0. My mate was in the home end sat with his Arsenal supporting brother in law in very expensive corporate seats, he got very close to being thrown out after the second goal. Also, the pies were very expensive.
the fans then saw us differently to how they do now, we had a tinge of honesty about us; to be fair, we are just about back to the season before that.
Also my favourite game as a city fan. I had about four hundred quids of bets riding on it all on arsenal to score a hatful of course, to fund my weekend in the smoke. I couldn't stop grinning for days losing the money was irrelevant, but with my betting luck quite predictable. Following this up with the win at spurs the next week, twas indeed heady days indeed. I also got interviewed by sky sports on the Monday in queen vic square they did a feature on high flying hull, I had took the Monday off work after spurs. Despite my best efforts I sounded like a clown shoe mong and came out with I'm off to buy a paper to make sure the league table is correct in an accent that always sound awful on TV.
Isn't arrogance annoying, so glad we don't have arrogant fans who jump all over the team when they lose & expect us to hammer all these lower league teams we come up against....

Yes, lots of them stayed behind to applaud off the City players after they had celebrated with our fans.
I remember singing "Dont want to go home" for what seemed like an age after the match and - genuinely - nobody did. it's the longest I have ever stayed in a ground following a league game without being forced to. I'm grinning from ear to ear as I type.
