So there has been a bit of talk about Craig Beattie recently on here, But I think that he can be a decent player for us.

Beattie has shown signs of class throughout the whole of last season, notably Middlesbrough and Ipswich, he has showed that he can score goals for us and has shown that he has the determination to help out the team, When he comes on off the sub bench he has never stopped running and has got back to defend and still been able to attack.

This whole article stems from the thread asking why we signed him, and the goal he scored today. For those of you who weren't at the Port Talbot game he scored a really nice goal, he took it on his chest with a beautiful touch and then slotted it past the goalkeeper.

If Craig got fitter then I think he could be a real asset next season, and he is the kind of guy who we can throw on for the last 15 minutes and can make a real difference, he's shown that he can have his moments of magic and I think that if he can consistently get some games and score some goals, he can turn into a good player.

Then again this is all just my opinion, and I want to hear yours on this article :)

I don't care what musty says (I really don't understand what his problem is). Beattie was great last season and I'm sure he will be a great super sub for us in the prem.

I thought we were sending Beattie out on loan?? thought he was going to Derby! hell I hope Rodgers doesn't have him in mind, for anything this season, he will never stay fit for long, never has, never will..................

Musty I think you're being a bit silly in saying that, his goal was quality today and he has proved he can score good goals.

DPJ I pretty sure he's been fit for a majority of the season, I don't think he was actually injured at any point during last season. Sure he has had his injury problems in the past but it looks like they have stopped now, Brendan used him well last season, and let's not forget if It wasn't for him we may not even be in the Premiership.

Well if he was injury free last season, and netted one more goal than our CB Ashley Williams, how many do you think this sorry excuse of a striker is going to net in the Prem? By the way he got 4 goals last season in the Championship.....................

I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if he scored a lot of goals for this coming season, but I think he's a useful player to have in the squad. Once again, I'll revert to something I used to say a lot on 606... if you're going to be critical, do it constructively otherwise all you'll do is have a negative effect all around. It's stupid to think the players don't read this type of message board from time to time, and some of the stuff said about Beattie recently, as well as a flippant attitude toward Monk of all people is quite unjust in my opinion.

Personally I think Beattie is already an asset in our squad he can give u's something different he's got a great first touch and reads the game really well,he also holds the ball up well and brings others into the game.
He's gonna be an important player when we're under the cosh next season

Monk & Beattie will play their part this season , Buck's impression of what their ability to slot in here & there at a fair wage is all that matters .
