I'd have personally hoped we would have got around 30,000 last night. Compared to the rest though we are clearly light years ahead of their crowds though so set against that context it's a good showing.
Going way back to the early days of not606. Mackem wummer who used to pick out historical attendance figures to show how badly supported nufc were before the premier league era and how much better Sunderland supporters were. Would occasionally pop up on buddy match day threads to ask why we weren't all at the game. A very dull wum in other words.
The problem lies in clubs not taking the cups seriously. Field a reserve team and people still expect big crowds? The cups only seem to matter when you get a semi.
Right I've got a semi, the cup still doesn't feel that important, what now? Be a full blown rager soon.
Due to the great start this season. Still managed to concede three in the first half! So you can guarantee we will do it in the next round? Or we have been fielding our strongest team in the cups in recent years?
