Was all that a posh way of saying we had a tournament where kids of the same size played against each other?
Actually makes a lot of sense....gives smaller kids a chance and stops big lads looking better than they are.
It would make more sense mixing the kids but just having a smaller pitch and goals. On a full size pitch you can get rid if the bigger kids, but it would still be kick and run dominates by the fast kids. England need to develop skill
Clem, kids football has been on smaller pitches with smaller goals and fewer players for a few years now. We're getting there slowly!
I'm sure I read Alex Chamberlain saying somewhere that before he was 16 his dad never once let him play on a full size pitch. Vin
Maybe at academies and such, but every Sunday morning there are boys of school age playing an 11 a side match on a full size pitch behind my garden.
Should only be from Under 12s upwards and next season from under 13s. It's not just acadamies it is all FA affiliated leagues (basically any official local league). Can't remember all, but something like: Under 7s and 8s is 5-a-side Unders 9's is 7-a-side Under 10s and 11s is 9-a-side All with smaller pitches and goals that increase with each change in number of players.
Spot on. The FA are now trying to increase the number of better qualified coaches too. We miles behind the main European football countries there too.
