I thought Taylor was absolute rubbish at Newcastle last year and his set pieces were the worst I saw in the Prem. He seems to have continued his ineptitude tonight. Even Bruce seems disgusted. Can't see him playing much this year. Surely Lenihan would be a better choice but he's not in the squad.

I'm listening to Humberside on Tiger Player. They seem to think that Rochdale deserve at least a draw. We seem inept. This will be a nervy ending. 7 minutes to go!

A dead turd appears to have scored a hat-trick for Lesta.

Not heard or seen a thing of the game but considering the other results I don't think we should moan too much.

Villa conceding 3 to notts county at home , lester, palace, stoke, boro, norwich, watford, wolves, all conceded.

Sounds like the same old crap. At what point does this stop being excusable?

Firstly I wasn't there, so I'm going on others comments, but all I'm saying is our poor football is constantly defended with excuses about the transfer window or whatever, so when does that end? When should we expect to start seeing good performances?

The first ten minutes were great.

Clucas doesn't look very good at anything.

Diame looked good. Luer looks most promising. Abel did some good things but also some **** shots. Solid game from Meyler. Odubajo looked sharp when he came on.

    We are too ****ing static.

We scored early. Had a flurry shortly afterwards and let them pass the ball around us for most of the match. They played some nice football, looked to get the ball forward and one or twice created an opportunity to score. We started the second half well. Had a couple of chances but didn't score. Normal service was resumed. They didn't have that killer touch in front of goal and so it remained 1-0. Classic Steve Bruce.

Just got back and this is what I think:
We need a leader in midfield to help the young lads like Clucas, also we need to keep Dawson at the back for for similar reasons
Luer, great finish but not ready to start and not helped by his strike partners, which leads me to Hernandez-
Hernandez £10 million for a striker as bad as finishing as that, unbelievable.
Taylor didn't play well but he is not match-fit for me, he can improve. Robertson nearly cost us straight away, maybe not 100 percent reliable.
The main plus point is Diame, if we can get him back as soon as possible, him Snodgrass and Maloney will give us a bit extra, he hasn't played a game until tonight and already looked twice the player Huddlestone is, also Meyler improved tonight for no Huddlestone as I thought he would, wasn't having to take half his workload.
By the way the comments on Blunderside I've just been listening to are fairly ridiculous, it's an early season game with players finding their feet like Taylor/Diame, you would think we would have lost 6-0 from some of the stuff I've just heard, the main point is that we could have been two or 3 up early doors if we had the likes of Chuba up there with Luer

Didn't seem like a lot of sides are taking this cup seriously, to be fair.
