Wonderful 100m final for the women. Love the hairdo worn by Fraser-Pryce. No one was going to catch her after that start. Schippers looks as if she could be more suited to the 200m as she was closing the gap in the last 20m

Caterine Ibargüen!! Who? She has just won the gold in the women's triple jump. Nothing unique about that until you consider the country and continent. How many other world champions in athletics from South America have there been since its inception in 1983?

What do others make of the BBC Athletics webpage. It seems very slow to update information, has a report of the 100m for ladies and rightly so, but nothing about the Kenyan achievement this afternoon n the 3000m. It was brilliantly executed by them, see everyone else off then it's everyone for themselves. Nothing about the 10000m, pole vault or triple jump!! Very poor service from our number one media provider. Maybe I should go to the Guardian and Telegraph websites.

Trouble is with Athletes consistently at the 'top' eg. Bolt you know he isn't doping, but with every freak result you have to question whether someone is cheating, sad state Athletics is in. Plenty of British cheaters as well.

Bolt is a generation ahead of his time regarding his unique performances. The next person to break any of his records hasn't been born yet. I like to assume all athletes are clean until proven otherwise.

Greg Rutherford going well in the Long Jump final 8.41m. Out in front of an Australian and the Chinese by a good margin. The Americans didn't qualify for the final jumps.

American male sprinters are having an awful time. Only one through to the semi-finals of the 200m, their 400m hurdle finalist failed miserably. Well done to the Kenyan Nicholas Bett who won the event. Can this great nation get the 800m gold? Let's hope so!

Why would Rutherford skip his 5th round jump....would have thought when you're in the lead it's a free chance to just go for it?

Watching the Athletics on Spanish TV and nothing has been seen of the Long Jump from this feed. Hopefully it is not a premature well done to Greg, who must be the most unassuming athlete I have seen. So pleased for him and now he has the full house. Hopefully he can inspire a generation of youngsters to take up one of the field disciplines.

That was easy in the end for Rutherford! Gold it is. Nobody got near him!

Another great evening for Kenya with David Rudisha winning in style. Came under pressure from the Pole and Bosnian but swatted them away in true champion style.

We should finish with 4 golds at the end of the week, can we get five? Christine is going to have to run the race of her life to win the 400m. I have a soft spot for Allyson Felix so I'll be cheering for her.

Tactical. He's a true competitor champion, and sometimes not doing something sends out the right message. He will always have that question mark against him that he never troubles the world record, but nobody did for donkey's years after Bob Beamon, except Mike Powell and possibly Carl Lewis, and they're long gone too. He can only beat whoever he competes against, which makes him the best of his era.

My admiration for David Rudisha almost amounts to a man crush. I don't quite know why. He's brilliant. He's runs like a gazelle, with so much power and elegance. It's a thing of beauty.

Still on the ladies pole vault. What a final leap by Silva to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. If she had failed the Brazilian, Murer, would have won on countback.

Another great afternoon for the Kenyans but the surprising thing for one gold was in a discipline that is normally dominated by Finns, Czechs! Well Julius in the javelin.

Tremendous and unexpected victory for South Africa in the 400m who took on and beat some mighty big reputations including LaShawn Merritt and Kirwani James, who looked well below his best today.

Spanish TV has a slightly different feed from the BBC. I think it takes a direct feed from the Chinese broadcasters, where as the BBC is selective and focuses on British athletes. Great moment in the 200m semi involving Bolt and anther South African. As they crossed the line they were quite relaxed and seemed to be engaged in a conversation. Magical moment.
