Terry is still our best centre half and not to mention captain. Zouma and Terry should be the 1st choice partnership imo.
I think Terry would be a lot better alongside Zouma than he is next to Cahill imo. Cahill has always been a mixed bag for me. He can play really well, but is too inconsistent. Still think Terry should probably retire at the end of this season though, maybe become a defensive coach. He will be 35 come seasons end
I like Cahill but let's face it, he's not world level. I disagree re JT. He was head and shoulders over any defender for the whole of last season and is now being judged based on two games. Terry has never relied on pace so age shouldn't matter just yet as long as he's healthy. Mourinho needs to back JT right now as putting him out to pasture before signing a viable long term replacement could prove to be a disaster.
I agree with JT last season, he was awesome, especially having played every minute, at his age! But when defenders fall, it is fast. The main thing with age is the summer, with a 2 month break in the action, it will take a 34 year old a LOT longer to get back to match fitness that it does a kid in his 20's. Hopefully when he comes back after his suspension he will be back on the ball (both figuratively and literally). Will have to see. I was probably too hasty in saying he should retire, I will give look at him again in January and see where he is at.
I agree, but it's usually because they're no longer physically able to keep up and mostly because they lose that all important yard of pace. JT has never relied on pace so I don't see it becoming that much of an issue, especially in the space of a few months. If he's performing consistently ****e up until Jan then of course things need to be addressed but it's only 2 games.
TBH, that is what I expected Jose to do at Etihad - play Zouma along Matic. Perhaps we could have salvaged something. heck but for Ivan's 2 stupid mistakes we would have got something. Losing 1-0 is lot better than 3-0.
