Master Simpson - best posts I've seen anywhere on the web from a Sunderland fan about Steve Bruce. The Anti SB brigade have memories of goldfish. The dross we've had to endure throughout the years, and they wanted rid of the guy who gave us the best team we've ever had!! First part of last season was the best football I've EVER seen at our place. Nobody can deny that the Brucester suffered unbelievably bad luck when Bent (by name and nature) abandoned us, and then the horrendous run of injuries, leaving ELEVEN first teamers out. Winning 3 out of 5 at the end of the season, without a single recognized striker, and still insisting on playing football the way it's meant to be played football is true testament to his coaching abilities. The calling for SB's head in the circumstances outlined above made me sick to the stomach and not just a little ashamed to be a Cat. I for one am glad we didn't react to the impatient, petulant brigade, and that my friends will pay dividends. One word of caution though. Allow all the new boys time to settle - will ya?

I'm coming from left side here, I was somebody who was very pro Bruce and back him to the hilt, although I had criticised some of his tactics/substitutions.

After considering some of the arguments made by the Bruce Out contributors(and I do not mean that phrase to be critical) my attitude towards him hardened a little - although still pro Bruce I acknowledged that some of the criticisms aimed at him were fair and just - however I still felt the end result of finishing 10th should buy him more time in the job.

In my heart of hearts I feel that this season he has to be seen to be making tangible progress on the pitch otherwise his transfer activity will count for now't.

His signings will need to hit the ground running(shooting & scoring too I hope), be in the top ten and go on a decent cup run otherwise the pressure from the supporters will be greater than last season in both volume and number.

I really hope he succeeds - the number and quality of signings made to date have made it a close season like no other I can remember.

Would depend on the circumstances = personally I think we will be in the top 7-8 at xmas at the very worst.

You should be thinking the same.
