Positive signs so far - look more solid now. Still conceding a few errors but not as many as before. Clyne, Gomez, Milner, Can and more importantly, NO JOHNSON or GERRARD have all made an impact.
Meant to say that the inclusion of these new players (in Can's case, in midfield) is helping. Lovren has improved, granted but how much is down to his actual ability or the system? Personally, I'm still not convinced. Skrtel and Lovren are now benefiting from having two defensively sound full backs next to them, and no Gerrard in front of them. Now Lovren has still been exposed this season - he's been very fortunate in my eyes because we haven't been punished but he was fault for the disallowed Bournemouth goal (and prior to that, he was completely skinned), he rushed out last night and didn't win the ball, he lost Giroud who should have scored. It's not perfect but it's an improvement. In his defence, he's not the worst defender in that partnership..
This as been my argument against you when it comes to our CBs for a long time. I said numerous times that Skrtel was one of our better players during the 2013-14 season but was left totally exposed far too often. Having better FBs and a screen in front of them is making their job easier and they are obviously looking better for it. Same applies to any defender anywhere in the world. I am not convinced by Lovren yet but the improvements he appears to have made is encouraging.
So now the full backs have been upgraded, time to upgrade the centre backs? ... At the moment, the centre backs aren't exposed as much. But are we merely masking their deficiencies ...
They weren't that great against the other 3 teams either, in fact they were ****ing awful against Bournemouth. Skrtel should have gone a long time ago and Lovren is one of the worst players to be given a Liverpool shirt. **** em I say, time for both to sit on the bench and let someone else have play. Sakho and Illori should be given ago.
