Why would you not want him to play on the wing when it is abundantly clear from his performances that this is his best position? His main attributes are his ability to break with the ball at pace and terrific crossing ability. These are ideal characteristics for a winger but not so much so for an attacking midfielder / second striker and that is the reason why he plays better on the wing and always has done. If SAF wants an attacking midfielder, then he should sign one. Young has no doubt been signed because partially because of his versatility but I will be very surprised if he isn't used predominantly in a wing role.
Well said Young is primarily a wide player and with his pace and crossing ability that is where he should be played. A good attacking midfielder needs vision, awareness, passing ability and creativity over pace and crossing ability. This is why someone like Sneijder would be a perfect fit for that role.
