http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...provided-owner-Ellis-Short.html#ixzz3jm3kab3c Has ES let DA down with regards transfer funds ?
What was the point in begging dick back, if Ellis won't back him. I really thought this year would be different, how wrong was I.
Nah, he's still using the media to put his point across. Just turning the screw, nowt to worry about... Yet.
Agree that he,s pressuring ES, worried that he feels he has to. What was all the begging him to come back for this season about if you,re not going to back people? DA quoted that half a new team of quality signings was needed, not sighted yet
Nice to see Congerton praised. Dick is praising good work and criticising bad work. We know where the blame lies. If Ellis wants to keep people happy he is going to have to spend a little more.
I'm big on body language and to honest I look at DA last season and look at him now.....different guy. I bet he regrets his coming back now, clear as day to me he has been told one thing and Short is doing another. I can see him back in Holland soon
The clock is ticking down so Dick is just pressing home the message he's given over the last few weeks. Wouldn't expect him to do any less everytime he's in front of a camera.
Short has been backed into a tight corner ........... how he reacts will dictate our future for the next 10 years. I'm 60 this year and don't have time for much more indecision from the club.
Hopefully this all gets sorted, I like Dick as he is a true professional but when a Manager says he will only be staying on for an extra year what does that suggest to new signings. Short stay true to your word man!!!
Why cant Short use his money and pay off the so called debt that we are supposedly still paying out on previous contracts, and get rid of the dead wood who are holding the club back. FFS he could give to SAFC 0.4 billion and not even notice it, then when the TV money comes rolling in he would be getting it back as profit. There must be ways round this FFP ****e as other clubs seem to be managing to spend a lot of money in comparison to us. If Dick isn't being supported in the way that perhaps he was told then I cant blame him for leaving and good luck to the fella.
Micky Gray said yesterday he would hold his hands up and apologise to Short if new players come in. I think all this in the media has put Short in a position where he now has to spend. His statement in the program was well written but will soon be forgotten if we dont see a couple of quality signings.
I think Dick is using his experience and trying to get this where it needs to be. He's not going against Congerton like Poyet did. On one hand he's saying Short never promised him a large budget but on the other you get the feeling reading between his words that he is definitely not happy. One presumes that the indications of what he was going to get when he decided to return to what he has received at the moment......pardon the pun.....is somewhat "Short".......
But what if Congerton and Short put the money up and the players decide not to sign? Or fail medicals? So many variables it's impossible for us - we can;t attract the type of player we (as in the fans) want as a permanent fixture. Much like newcastle we are a stepping stone to bigger things - sad but true! FFS people would rather go to Stoke (and I'm talking historically not currently as they are streets ahead of us now). I like Ellis Short and I like what he said in the programme notes. If we don;t have the money available then where do we go? It's not like Sheiks are queueing up to buy the club!
If we believe the news stories from last season then DA was on a million quid bonus to keep us up which he duly did then retired. He could well have then produced a blueprint for the club to follow and recommended those players he thought would be available. After his return we have made signings, missed out on some players through their choice or failed medical, maybe we have been in for some we have no idea about. It could well just boil down that maybe the master plan is not viable for varying reasons and nothing to do with the money available. Speculation on my part, but then the press are doing that also.
