Nothing is decided 3 games in both teams finding their feet. Could have gone either way had one of the teams been clinical. We're obviously the happier with 3 points at stoke and 1 at Goonerville.
There are enough indications that we wont be challenging no title come November you will finally admit it as you do every year.
It really is ****ing groundhog day watching this team. Nothing fundamentally ever changes. I'm sorry guys, but we are not going to be competing for the title with Wenger as manager. I just don't believe he's capable of it anymore. Which is a real shame, but it is a reality
Fact is its become common mantra from wengerites to say same thing every year oh its early days long way to go bla bla as I said you guys are just on repeat
Okay I'll have a crack at player performances. Cech - 9 : Saved our arses Bellerin - 6 : Played well without doing anything amazing Chambers - 4 : Awful 1st half, did okay in the 2nd Gabriel - 8 : Very solid, looks like great cover at CB Monreal - 6 : Okay without being good Coquelin - 8 : Solid and combative, made some good passes too. Ramsey - 7 : Did well, unlucky with the 'offside' goal Cazorla - 5 : Quite poor today, didn't get anytime on the ball, nothing came off. Ozil - 8 : Looked like our best player, worked hard all game. Sanchez - 6 : Worked his socks off but still doesn't look match fit Giroud - 6 : Only really had one chance, didn't do anything special Subs Walcott - 5 : Didn't really get into the game Oxo - 7 : Looked dangerous, probably should start next game.
Desperately in need of 3 points in the early kickoff this week. We have a chance to put some pressure on those playing later in the day/weekend.
Thought 0-0 was a fair reflection of the game, despite the wrongly ruled out goal. Thought Coq for you was easily MOTM, completely in cruise control the whole game.. Broke up everything, stepped away from every challenge and almost always found his man, class player Nothing is won or lost at this stage.
I thought we dealt with the threat of Benteke pretty well for the most part but our passing was way off in the first half which lead to several gifted chances for Liverpool. They were unfortunate not to score and Cech was sublime today. A draw was a fair reflection of the game and Liverpool will be very pleased with their start to the season so far. Arsenal however have some issues up front. 5 home games in six that we have failed to score in. In those five games we've had 3 draws and 2 losses.
Gabriel dealt with him well in the second half but he became isolated the more we dropped back, thought him and Couts were terrorising your defence in the first half. I think your attack will sort itself out as the match fitness/sharpness increases, still think maybe you need a back-up to Giroud but who's available? Also don't understand how Ox doesn't make your starting XI? The lads always lively when he plays.
Yeah Oxo needs to start and you're right, we need another striker to support Giroud. He can't do it all on his own all season.
Well I am glad you only mentioned Gabriel because he was covering Benteke on his own at times. Most of your joy in attack came through the uncertainty of Chambers who looked way out of his depth in the first half. Hopefully you're right on our attack but we looked good last week. We can't score at home for some reason at the moment. I don't know why. I think when Oxlade Chamberlain came on he showed why he is such a potent attacking force the way he roasted Jordon Ibe for the chance that nearly lead to the Skrtel own goal. He is a liability defensively though.
PISKIE if you're giving some of your players a rating of 8 you're well off the mark Cech deserved man of the match, but the rest of your players were a 6 at best. First half you were shocking and second half you just huffed and puffed without causing any problems. I'm happy with the point, but if you're giving out ratings of 8 then you clearly don't have high standards
Disagree, we caused you plenty of issues in the second half and we unfortunate not to score 2 or 3 goals.
Really? A couple of average saves and you hit the outside of the post. Your intricate play just couldn't get through a solid defence. Before the game I would have taken a point, so I'm happy. But you were there for the taking tonight.
Skrtel nearly scored an own goal as well. The chance Giroud had was more than a half chance. Sanchez should have scored. And it was a lot more than the outside of the post. You sat back and tried to catch us on the break. It didn't work as well as your strategy in the first half. Your defence wasn't tested by us as much as it should have been. There will be more difficult tests. We were there fore the taking in the 1st half, not the second though. And I agree we were too intricate at times. But there was definitely a greater urgency to Arsenal's play in the second half and it could have gone either way.
Depends which way you look at it, he had to get a challenge in - so you could say it was great defending I just didn't see any real threat from Arsenal in that 2nd half if I'm honest. We shut up shop and played on the counter and did a great job, although didn't create much. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, but if you really thought you did enough to win/or score I have a feeling you'll be disappointed this season. Unless of course you get a quality striker
If we'd done enough to score, we would have. We didn't score therefore we didn't do enough. 5 failures to score in our last 6 home games says it all. Its not just a Liverpool thing, its an Arsenal problem as well. You played well tonight, better than us overall and gained a deserved point. We improved, could have scored, didn't. Your team needs to be consistently good to challenge the best teams. Arsenal weren't at their best tonight. Can you finally be consistent?
I very much doubt it It seems we have a more balanced squad than we've had for a while though, so only time will tell. There's absolutely no chance we'll challenge for the title. Our aim has to be to break into the top 4 and then build from there - that's a tough ask on it's own with the quality of last years top 4. I expect you'll do well this season, but i'm starting to doubt my pre-season thoughts you could be genuine challengers. You get some real steel in midfield and a striker and you're good to go. If not I think 3rd is your best bet.
Last year when we had the same slow start the same people were going on about 'nothing is decided at this stage of the season', it's like some people simply never want to learn and like to wilfully stay blind. The same BS will be repeated for the next 3 months, when again they will finally admit the obvious that we have no chance in hell of winning the title, though they won't admit their blind faith is misplaced. This was the year when there was supposed to be no excuses, lolz, like every other year. I mean seriously, we can't win 1 home game, lost to ****ty West Ham, and some deluded folk really think we're challengers? Lol, in that case, so are Spurs.
