Weathered that early storm, really pleased with the performance since then. Benteke and Coutinho starting to get on song, Milner and Can buzzing around well and Firmino starting to show their class. Don't see Arsenal being that bad in the second half though.

 

I'd bring on Ibe 2nd half. His pace will terrify them

 

I think everyone grew into the game. The levels raised in the last 15 mins.

 

How are we not winning? Woodwork twice, Benteke from four yards, etc. Got the feeling is not going to be our day now

 

Gotta be happy with that, yes some mistakes early doors but we are doing well all over the pitch. Make no mistake though we have to come out 2nd half with the same attitude and keep up the work rate or we will be punished.

 

Started off well, then Arsenal took control. But the lads grew into the game. Better side and we should be winning.

 

Lucas has been poor IMO but you can the impact of having 3 mids has.

 

Rodgers has got the formation right and the tactics so far, credit where due.

Delighted with the performance and Rodgers has not sleep walked into this one. The right team picked the right formation as we've discussed about 20 times before and during season.....

Shape right.. players right.... performance right.

Arsenal are tasty too mind. Cb is a huge issue for them.

Coutinho left side.. could have had 4. Just like I wanted him in our team.

Decent debut for Firmino. .. bit off it so far.

I think he's been solid. I think the midfield 3 have worked well as a partnership. Can & Milner are more energetic so doing more chasing where as Lucas is holding his position so we have some shape.

 

Jimmy thought on benteke now up front....

 

I know you're not a fan but FFS come on, nobody has been poor and he's done his job, he's very good holding his position make good challenges and passing the ball well.

 

How are we not 2-0 or 2-1 up ?

Arsenal have been really crap and their passing has been dreadful. We should have taken advantage. This is the weakest arsenal side I've seen for a long time. When we are dominant we should be in front.

 

Got to expect Arsenal to dominate possession at The Emirates

 

They didn't deserve a goal anyway... not really.

 

Lucas is playing like he's been in form for a year, not benched/injured.

Gomez nice and solid, though feel like he needs someone to slap him and say chin up, you're doing great. He's nervous about what he's doing, even though he's doing it well.

Coutinho - if we ever sell him I'll be sad. Lad is a magician. Brazil are missing out.

Benteke doing well, pleasantly surprised. He'll be a good player for us.

Milner isn't bad, better than in the previous two games. Needs to not do cheeky little flicks as much. Just go direct and play the right move.

Can - Should be answering all of his critics. Why doesn't he play every game? That would be great.

Firmino - needs to gel with the team, but good signs - getting involved, creative, etc. Some good passes.

Clyne - has made more good crosses in this half than Johnson did in his last 3 years at Liverpool.

Skrtel and Lovren still fill me with trepidation but overall, they've been alright. Lovren's actually been decent.

 

I think I'd pay just to watch Coutinho run around the field with a ball and a few traffic cones as players.

Guy just oozes class on the ball.
