OX is good at defending from the wing, and Cazorla is no slouch either, Cazorla deep and OXO on wing would have been more than enough.
I'm sorry, but I don't see it. Ramsey is ineffective on the wing and even though Oxlade-Chamberlain has been careless with possession, Ramsey can be just as wasteful with his wayward passing. Chamberlain is quicker and does actually do a good shift defensively, but provides width and a genuine attacking threat. Ramsey does not in the same position and it is ridiculous to leave both Ox and Walcott out, in my opinion.
Oxo gives the ball away in dangerous positions and gets caught out. Ramsey covers loads of ground, makes lots of tackles and is good at retaining posession. Ramsey is definitely the better defensive option.
I'm a fan of Ramsey even thought I wasn't before, but can't deny he's not on good form, tonight's a chance for him to shine, I think most people wouldnt have had him in their team tonight, so it's his opportunity to prove his worth.
We're at home, how much defensive do we have to be? If we have to compensate attack because 2 CB's are injured then enter the ****ing transfer market beforehand and sign another world class CB to partner Gabriel. If this was away I'd understand, but we are home, we're not Chelski.
It's more that chambers and Gabriel together, thrown in last minute, could do with some extra cover from midfield, as opposed to them not being good enough (though it's still early in both there Arsenal careers to judge if they will be good enough or not). I expect both oxo and Walcott will come on in the second half and provide more width and attack if needed. I'm not saying it's the right decision, just putting out a theory as to why he might have gone for Ramsey over oxocube.
You're probably right, but my gripe is that if Wenger's worried, then just buy another defender before incase something like this happens.
