Under the current circumstances, we should be a bit optimistic - Arsenal have struggled and we have ground out a couple of wins.

However, the reason Arsenal have got the better of us over the past few seasons is because we play into their hands. We're open, not great defensively, and leave far too much space in between defence and midfield.

at 7pm when the team comes out on twitter I want you all to predict the final score.

I'd say you'll know full well having seen the lineups what'll occur.

To be honest guys, I honestly don't know what to expect from us this early on.

History certainly is in our favour in this fixture, but each game is different and I don't know what Arsenal is going to turn up. The last time you played us this early on in a season, you beat us 2-0 which I believe was in 2011.

On one hand, there is the Arsenal against West Ham where we are completely ineffective, cumbersome and predictable. Then there is the Arsenal against Palace who should have scored 4 goals in the opening 20 minutes and looked totally rampant.

Either way, this game should be a cracker. <ok>

correct but frimpong got sent off at 0-0 and we scored two late goals

the only ray of light we have is 2-2- for rodgers in this fixture two seasons ago in january.

I think certainly arsenal players were not smacked down by wenger for talking titles and players turned up like coquelin thinking they had it made.

    Oh and Sanchez wasn't back....

If arsenal are confident and play like they can the attacking players like carzorla, ozil, ox and sanchez will reip us up and giroud will rough up skertl i think.

bellarin is one to watch as well IMO

    Jeez.
I've been looking forward to this game, but 10 minutes reading this thread and I want to top meself.
Why don't we just give them the 3 now and not bother playing?
That way we'd save some money on the bus fare to go with the savings on Mario's wages that everyone thinks is such a riveting subject.

    Miserable batards.

I agree - the negativity and pessimism is annoying. Why can't fans lighten up? <ok>

A win is a win at the end of the day, who cares how it happens or the circumstances involved?

I think this game could go either way. If it was further into the season, I think we'd be favourites but given our early erratic form and your perfect start, it's in the balance.

Honestly, I hope your players have the same mentality some of you guys on here do because if they do, it will be a cake walk.

I don't think they will, though. I expect a difficult, tight game.

    sure.

I'm sure saying on a normal day our record then goes back to 2000 for next win.... you've not seen out game v bournemouth nor stoke... we could have lost both... stoke game jonhson missed a sitter at 0-0. v bournemouth they had one chalked off and we got an offside goal.

I'm basing my expectation on our form and how i expect us to line up.

If i see a team I would pick when the team line ups come out fine but if i see what i expect rodgers to do i think he'll have sleep walked into a hammering.... like mourinho did v city... he played mikel last year in top 4 games.. this time round he did faff all to change it up for the big team.

If rodgers doesn't change LFC team up he'll get beat... and badly.

If our players had the mentality of some of our fans we'd be in the bloody Conference (or whatever it's called these days).
    They won't have, though.
It could be a tight game, but not necessarily-we've had some high-scoring games over the years.
I hope it's not another dour one.

I said after bournemouth game we banked the crucial points and the game after this one is just as vital.

Being positive about the future doesn't mean deluded when it comes to a tough game.

we won 2 out of 8 against last years top 4... one was that city game when city basically failed to show up.

all in all... arsenal away is one of our very hardest fixtures every year and getting ti out of the way early is good.

9/12 points in the block if we lose tonight and win the next one...

thats better than most of our form last year.
